The two of us stayed in Riverstone Backpackers for two nights in early January in a double room. The purpose of this trip was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and this was a perfect place to stay. We organized our own shuttle for the crossing however the staff at Riverstone are happy to help with this and are full... More

After walked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, we drove to Turangi. As we always preferred the smaller hostels, we sticked with Riverstone, and it proved to be a good decision. This is a small hostel with 30 beds or less total. We booked a double room which was quite a luxury one: it was bright, very spacious with a huge and... More

Some hostels are just made to make the most money in no time. Some others are here to welcome travelers from everywhere, and make they enjoy their stay. This one is far from these usual examples : everything is made to make you feel good, from the great outdoor place (this hammock !) to the very clean and huge kitchen... More

We really enjoyed our stay in Turangi. The people who worked there are very friendly and helpfull. The Tangoriro crossing was really awesome! They have electric blankets, very nice, after a cold day walking. The hostel (kitchen, bathrooms and rooms) were very clean.

I can't even remember how I stumbled upon this spot while booking my trip but I'm glad I did. It's by far the nicest hostel I've stayed in so far in New Zealand and perhaps one of the nicest hostels I've stayed in anywhere. If you're into "boutique" hostels that avoid the ratty, partying backpacker stereotype but are still social... More

We really enjoyed our stay here at Riverstone Backpackers! Especially after the challenging Tongariro Alpine Crossing Track it was a nice spot to relax and to get further information about the region and other hiking tracks. We were warm welcomed in this spotless clean and tidy hostel, even though, we arrived late in the evening without a reservation. The personnel... More

We loved staying here (especially when we were the only ones there). It was spotlessly clean and beautifully designed (the doors are designed so that they cannot slam - really rare in a hostel!) with a really nice outside area. When we were there though, the manager was dealing with an incredibly stressful situation relating to his other job -... More

Loved this place -a haven of tranquility in. A lovely suburb. Great outdoor living areas so well designed and the whole place was really well organised for maximum convenience. Would certainly return. Excellent value as well.
