My wife and I stayed here on tuesday, a few nights ago looking for some much needed R+R and thought it nice to escape the city. Check in was no problem, in fact the receptionist was very plesent and made the time to chat with us. The room was spacious and well furnished, with a lovley view of the estate.... More

If you are looking for a charming and authentic stay in an English Country House, this place is delightful. The old stone building over looks rolling green meadows, pastures filled with cows and sheep. There is a wonderful sense of stepping back in time. The rooms are typically British decorated with flower prints, and antiques. If you like modern and... More

We stayed in order to visit Chatsworth Horse Trials, the hotel is close by. The staff were patronising when we arrived at 3pm given that we had just travelled nearly 300 miles we were surprised to be told that we would need to dress smartly for dinner at 7 pm. Our dinner in the "fine dining" restaurant was pleasant but... More

Spent a very pleasant weekend here as a base to visit Chatsworth House. Enjoyed the view from bedroom window on the first morning, a pheasant on the lawn. The hotel is full of memorabilia and photos of the families associated with the hotel, so that while the walk to the bedroom was a bit of a distance it was always... More

Spent a delightful night at the Cavendish. Lovely, traditional hotel with comfortable rooms and very helpful staff. Treated ourselves to the Kitchen Table. What an experience. Great food and ambience. Started off with delicious canapes and things only got better. Nicola, the waitress who looked after us all evening, was charming and knowledgeable and Mike & Dan the chefs on... More

just visit the garden restaurant for sunday lunch occasionally, usually very good menu but let down by fishpie today- had salmon instead of smoked haddock as adverstised and very little of it, otherwise attentive staff ,good service and their lounge for coffe is a great place to relax in. Vicky at reception is always cheerful and welcoming.

We love this hotel - room 14 was peaceful and comfortable, with views over to Chatsworth Park. We're going back for a longer stay in a few weeks' time and plan to walk the Monsal Trail, visit Haddon Hall and repeat our walk from the hotel, by the river, to Chatsworth House. Charlotte the receptionist was friendly and helpful, as... More

One of the most dreadful hotels we have ever stayed in! The dinner (£45/head) was inedible, and the staff did not know what they were doing! To cap it all, whilst we were still eating, they starting moving things around and preparing for breakfast... We did not eat in the hotel again after that and had all our meals out... More

I stayed her in March this year withmy husband as an anniversary treat. We took advantage of a winter deal which included afternoon tea with a glass of champagne, an evening meal and B&B. I have to stay from the start to the end of the visit, it was delightful. The room we stayed in (we upgraded from the one... More
