So i bravely took a group of 51 (yes that's 51 folks!) 8 & 9 year old's down to Watamu for a school field trip with my company Savage Wilderness. No I'm not masochistic but i think most people would agree that a trip like this certainly does exhibit some of those tendencies! Perfomance of the chosen hotel has the... More

The name of this hotel conjured up visions of lary bare-chested sunburnt Brits sharing diving tips over endless beer. Not the case. This is a very laid back family friendly (and couple friendly) hotel which is equally welcoming of guests who wish to do no more sport than the 10 metre stroll to the (gorgeous and warm) water's edge. The... More

Hi Veronica, thanks so much for such a positive review! We do try very hard to make everyone's visit as special as possible. We're so pleased that you enjoyed your time with us (and that you discovered a thrifty way to free up more cocktail money! very resourceful!) We hope to welcome you back soon. More

It sort of depends what you are looking for. Don't go if you want a smart posh Western hotel environment, and no contact with the local population! This hotel is a very friendly, now slightly worn, hotel from the days when Ernest Hemingway used to do his deep Ocean fishing here. Local (wealthy) Kenyans and South African visitors still do.... We booked for Ocean SPorts in August 2011 for a 8 night stay over Christmas 2011. Overall we paid about $200 per night for all of us - all 8 of us!! *4 adults and 4 children* For the first 4 nights we had two seperate family rooms the final nights in the Ocean cottage Check in was slow, maybe... Thank you for reviewing Ocean Sports for us. I am pleased that you seem fond of the place despite a few mishaps during your stay! Someone at the front office should always direct you to your room, I apologise that this wasn't the case. The filter at the pool has also been covered. Thankyou for drawing our attention to this... I stayed here the Friday before Christmas and really wish I'd had more time. The resort is right on the beach and bloody hell - what a beach! The rooms are excellent value for money, very clean and neat. I managed to break a tap in the shower, but the maintenance man quickly replaced it. The disco that night was... More

A place for those looking for a bit of real Kenya! Ocean Sports is an attractive, very friendly, boutique hotel in an amazing location. Staff were helpful and keen to make our stay an enjoyable one. There was lots to do as well as the ability to be quiet, if when we wanted. We took a large party of family... More

My son and I booked for a week's stay here at the end of August with some trepidation, given the poor state of some of the local hotels and issues of security and hassle from beach touts in other resorts. What we found was a small, traditional 'colonial style' hotel with spotlessly clean and well decorated 'bandas', set well apart... More

First visit to Kenya and Ocean Sports. The resort is definitely very good value for money. Excellent location with fantastic sea views. Child friendly. Food was of good quality and well prepared. Most staff were fantastic. Would definitely visit again. Great fishing operation on site (Pete Darnborough on Alleycat) and diving with Aqua Ventures.

A prefect place to get away from the crowd and also have members of the local community coming to the bar & restaurant. So many hotels are exclusive and you see nothing new and could be anywhere. With the secluded pool and in house dive school what more could you want. Disco night on Friday & Sunday lunch are a... More
