I have stayed here numerous times on both business and pleasure trips. We have also brough many interantional business vistors here as a great slice of what Great Britain can be like - the cider works well!!! The rooms are well proportioned - and the welcome is great. the traditional neatly dovetails with the contemporary - and the food is... More

We stayed at the Devonshire for the one night to celebrate our 10th anniversary. I pushed the boat out somewhat and we stayed in the most expensive 'room' - this could have been called a 'suite' as it was huge and the en suite bathroom/ shower and toilet was as spacious as most hotel rooms. It had recently been re... More

We stayed at the Devonshire Arms on Saturday night the 26th of February 2012, after reading the reports from others and with a high price tag of £130.00 B&B we looked forward to our stay, even more when we were told that the big room we had chosen had just been refurbished and we would be the first to use... Went for a meal on a thursday evening after being recommended by a friend. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by a beautiful building set in the middle of a peaceful village over looking the green. After seeing the outside we initially thought it would keep the same feel inside, however was rather modern, felt very open plan and plain.... More

We are hardly ever satisfied with pub/ hotel food it seems either seriously over priced or piles of stodgy crap. This was a real treat - the menu sits at medium price range. The lunch menu was varied but still small enough in choices to know that it was going to be freshly cooked. Most of the menu used locally... More

I took my wife for a belated Valentines night away with no kids. We were greeted by the owner, who showed us to our room. It was beautifully decorated with expensive bedding and lighting not to mention spotlessly clean. We had panoramic views across the village green and floodlit church. Before dinner we had a drink at the bar as... More

The food was ok but the service from our waitress was lumpen and ponderous in the extreme her forgetful and careless approach resulted in a long and unpleasant meal whilt she waddled passed ignoring customers for most of the night

Positives - lovely location, good parking, room was spacious, clean and bed comfortable, food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast with good selection and excellent service, bar was welcoming and lovely open fire. Negatives - closes at 3pm so if you arrive between 3-6pm you need to phone and be let in which is unusual, although within 5 mins... More

We travelled some distance to meet friends for lunch at the Devonshire Arms. It was certainly worth it. Friendly owner and staff, log fire, well appointed and excellent choice and quality of food. Not cheap but good value for money if you enjoy fresh locally sourced food cooked to perfection. Will certainly return. The pork and chorizo stew and plum... More
