Beautiful family run hotel, very stylish and super clean. Staff are top class and nothing is too much trouble for them. Food was excellent and great choice. Location feels like you are in the countryside, but you are just a short walk to the beach and town.

Inedible food, cold, tasteless and repetitive. Sleepless nights due to dated incredibly loud music. Annoying constant chatter by the owner heard inside the room despite the tv on and the air con running preventing even a short afternoon nap. I would like to mention two exceptional staff members, Thomas and Harris. Without these two staff members this hotel would not exist. Thank you both.

If you like tepid buffet food and random late night loud music this is the place for you! To get the full choice you need to be at the head of the queue at opening times. The facilities are okay but the prices are above the local average. The proprietor came across as being patronising and could always be heard, even in the room (unless it was afternoon siesta time). The location is a fair trek to the beach of local town facilities. Tomas and Harris did as much as they could to make things more bearable.

We had a really bad ant problem every night and day for the 15 nights we were there, the food was really badly undercooked I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy and when we refused to pay some of the things the man on reception wouldn’t let us leave and was saying if you leave us a good review you can go, the only good person there was the man on the bar, everyone else is really nice until the last couple of day, wouldn’t recommend it to English people as for the 15 nights there were no English people there and no one would speak to you, me and my girlfriend had to go around to my sisters hotel because how badly we were treated

We visited Tigaki for 8 days and stayed at the Golden Star Hotel the whole time. It was completely renovated in 2018 so everything was at best comfort. We especially liked the buffets for breakfast and dinner, that was changed daily. You can go on nice trips near Tigaki and the hotel employees help you with everything. We relaxed in this calm and friendly environment a lot. Best wishes from Germany Chris and Erik

We had an enjoyable stay at the golden star. The apartments are clean and well appointed. Our air con was included so that was a bonus for us. There is a cockerel behind the apartments who is vocal so if you’re sensitive to sound you’re going to be better off in block A or C. We stayed for one of the BBQs (fish) which was delicious and good value - €16 each. Thoroughly recommend this. This is a quiet place to stay and the hotel is really quiet in the day and at night so if you want a party atmosphere this isn’t for you. Most people seem to opt for the beach (we did too) so if you prefer the pool you’ll be in luck, no problem getting a sun bed. The staff were friendly and helpful. They helped us hire a car which is to be recommended if you want to get around the island. The only thing that stopped this being 5 stars is we had a couple of issues with the bathroom - toilet flush and the bathroom door broke one day. I would also say that a lot of the pictures on trip advisor seem quite old and don’t truly reflect what the hotel looks like now. Don’t be put off. There has been a lot of work put into updating the hotel and it has a stylish boutique feel now. I think block B is still awaiting its update but it seemed A and C are a higher spec room.

We were in room C14 ground floor, great view, very very quiet, room kept very clean, even in August the room was cool enough without air con. The staff of this family run hotel are lovely very friendly typically Greek they just want you to enjoy yourself. Good to see that everywhere had been repainted since we were there in 2015. The pool is very clean and is not very busy. The food was ok but the drinks were a bit expensive.

Golden Star provides a quiet, central location for enjoying the island of Kos. The food was decent, the facility was clean and the rooms were adequate. AC is extra, but works well. The mattresses were on the hard side. The shower was challenging in that water cannot be contained to the basin due to the open nature of the shower curtain simply pulling around the both the toilet and shower area. Be prepared for not placing paper in the toilet. With these considerations known, the Golden Star was an enjoyable stay!

We arrived on Saturday 10th June 2017 to a lovely warm welcome from the owners. We are well versed in Greek and Turkish resort appartments. Yes they are basic accommodation so if you require The Hilton suggest you book The Hilton ! On arrival we requested top floor ( tip; having nobody above you will be quieter as movement of furniture and even walking around will be heard especially if late at night) So we had room A17 which overlooked the rear views of the lake and farm area close to appartments . There are no early morning cockrals or dogs barking you will be pleased to know. Actually at night the appartments are very quiet, as the music played in the bar area daytime and nighttime are at a very low volume. And the bar area was closed by 11.30pm anyway. During the day the pool area is very quiet and at times we were the only couple using the pool !! Perfect for us as it really felt private. Sunshine is around the pool area uninterrupted from 8.30am until 7pm. Shaded area can be found and parasols are there too. Sun beds are free, well padded and easy to adjust mechanism to sunbathe or read. Garden area and kids play area is well away from the pool area so if there were kids there using it, you wouldn't be disturbed when they did. Rooms are large with fridge, cooking rings, sink, crockery etc. Tv in room has a couple of English channels( news channels bbc world news etc) Shower room, wet room basically as even with shower curtain closed you are towelling off in an inch of water on the floor. But as I have said we are used to that abroad. The appartments are about 20 mins away from the main high street where the Tavernas and bars are located. But that is perfect as you have a nice stroll into town, and the appartments are located in a very quiet area with no neighbouring hotels. On route you can turn left out of appartments and first left again walk to the top and turn left where restaurants start almost immediately. If you come out and turn right the roads are a little more dusty and at a couple of points you are advised to have a mini torch. Too many restaurants to mention but "7 Days" is a more traditional Greek ding experience and " The Kitchen" could be easily located in Londons Knightsbridge area. (Tip; we tended to share a starter, own main meal, share a desert, bottle of wine was around €40-55) The lower end of the high street has a very nice cocktail bar that you get a perfect Margarita made with fresh lime juice not cordial. Also recommend not paying extra for your transfers from airport if your booking a package holiday.Taxi to Tagaki is €27 door to door. It is around 20 min max. No stopping off at various hotels which adds time to your arrival. Hopefully if you are reading this it will help in getting an insight into the area itself, and the location of Golden Star, and all in all a perfectly situated appartments away from noise but a short walk to a nice busy small town with great restaurants and bars. Finally. Others things to note ; There is a very big supermarket at the top end of high street. Make sure you visit small village of Zia, for lunch and seperatly an evening meal to catch the sunset views. Hire a car for only 2 days to get to see the whole island easily. Busses to Kos town are 25 mins and are €2.10 per adult per each way. Enjoy your stay and keep suntan oil on always during the day. Average temp for us was 29 degrees.
