Hou Kong Hotel is a heritage building with more than 80 years of history. Its Portuguese architecture clearly shows Chinese influence. Newly renovated rooms are clean and neat, while friendly staff throughout the hotel awaits to make your stay a pleasant experience. Location is the most attractive of them all as Hou Kong Hotel is located less than 5 minutes away from Senado Square by foot and located directly across the road from Yuet Tong Terminal. With such prime location, be assured that public transport is also easily available as bus stops are just below the hotel, for guests who wish to travel to Macau, Taipa and Coloanne. Last but not least, the hotel is surrounded with many souvenir stores and local bakeries that many tourists love!

Do you enjoy sleeping poorly whilst being away on a weekend break? Then the Hou Kong is the hotel for you. They have it all! Whilst staying at this delightful little gem, you ll experience first-hand how it is to sleep on a hard plank of wood, reinforced with a giant stone. What’s more, should you end up sleeping on your side, you will wake up 2 hours later thinking you have had a stroke from the numbness you experience along that side of the body. Should you eventually manage to pass out, don’t worry - you ll be soon be awoken due to the unique design of the rooms and lack of sound-proofing, as the the Hou Kong bring the magical and noisy outside into your room. You ll be treated to hearing the busy occupants in the next room and in the hall way clear as day, as if they were in the same room, talking loudly, farting, or if you’ve been very lucky like we were (and positioned on the first floor), you will get to hear the staff washing up at 3 am in the restaurant below - giving you that ultimate, authentic Macau experience. After your terrible night’s sleep, you ll need a good shower to make you feel human again. Fortunately, the Hou Kong do have a decent enough shower. Moreover, ours was provided with a state-of-the-art invisible shower curtain! A great minimalist design, but it wasn’t the greatest at keeping the rest of the bathroom floor dry. This was the perfect choice for the Halloween weekend, as we both ended up walking the city looking like 2 zombies!

Love this hotel! Very affordable and the male receptionist speaks clear English. We also love the location because it is very close to some tourist destinations like Ruins of Saint Paul's and the others! :)

It was one of the cheaper hotels I could find in Macao, so I didn’t harbor high hopes for it, though the overall experience was less than satisfactory. The hotel is located in the older part of the city, and it is situated in a side lane. But then again, most streets at this part of the town seem like a small lane/alley. We booked a Deluxe Family Room, but in actual fact they could pretty much omit the word Deluxe. The room was small, though functional, just enough to fit a queen size bed and single bed. They managed to still cram in a small wardrobe and side table. There were no complimentary water/coffee/tea provided, not even a teaspoon. The single bed’s mattress was hard as wood. The bathroom wasn’t too small, but the shower tub (if you can call it that) is so small that you could barely stand inside it, let alone trying to turn your body. So the only way to take a shower is by standing outside the shower tub. Sleep quality wasn’t too good either as the walls are thin, so you could hear other hotel guests talking and walking in the corridor. The one good thing about the hotel is its location. There are quite a few restaurants around the vicinity of the hotel, you just have to be adventurous and courageous a bit to venture into one of them. Convenience stores are also available within a short walk. It is also easy to hail a cab from around the corner. St. Paul’s Ruins is about 15min walk from the hotel, where you would pass through a shopping district with many shops and throngs of tourists. Space being a premium, I’m not sure if you are able to find other better valued hotels than this, but I would suggest to look elsewhere.

The hotel is a an old building in Macau Peninsula of old city area. If you arrived at Macau International Airport, you can take the public bus No. MT4 to reach the hotel. From the hotel, you can take bus No. 26 to go Airport. The bus only cost MOP6. The bus stop is very near the hotel which is like 1-2 mins walk only. The hotel also is in walking distance to Senado Square, Ruins of St Paul and free shuttle bus to City of Dream and other Casino Hotels in Cotai area. There is a 24-hour supermarket which is around 3-5mins walk from the hotel. So, it is very convenience if you need to buy something. This is a budget hotel, so don't expect too high. No mineral water and coffee/tea in the room. There is a kettle for you to boil hot water, but the one in my room look bit dirty. However, the floor, bathroom and room condition in my room is look very new and I believe they just did some renovation. Air-con and water heater are working well. But the wifi is very weak in my room. Only able to get wifi signal when I am near the room door area only. You will be required to pay MOP200 during check-in. You can pay with HKD too. When you check out, the reception will refund to you immediately. However, for this price in Macau, it is consider a reasonable stay.

We stayed at Hou Kong Hotel for two nights. The City Area have more affordable hotels than Taipa and Cotai strip. Hou Kong Hotel has competitive prices so if you're on a budget, then this is the one for you. We booked a triple room. It may look ordinary on the outside because of the simple building but it looks good on the inside especially the rooms. The rooms are simple and clean. Though there is no bidet in our room where we stayed. It is near the bus stop which is good. You can just walk to Senado Square and Ruins of St. Paul's. There are a lot of budget restaurants, canteens and convenient stores in the area. The staff are accommodating, though they may be aloof at first because of language barrier. We met the old lady at the front desk during the night and she doesn't speak English. We understand that. Thank God for google translator! So if you encounter situations like this, just be understanding and there's always a solution. :) You can leave your luggages at the lobby. The WiFi is pretty stable. And before I forgot, it is a good thing that they have shampoo and bath gel dispenser rather than the sachet/plastic bottle. :)

This hotel is a nightmare - stay there at your peril. Arrived at 1am and the check in woman spoke no English despite their website stating English is spoken. Given an old, smelly dirty room with holes in the wall. Check in woman stated through Google Translate that is is newly renovated!!! Transferred to hotel across the road - much better. Hotels.com have refunded my money.

Best Hotel For Indian Travelers If they Don't Want To Stay In High Price Casino Hotels. The hotel is very close to one of the 2 Indian Restaurants In Macau, Just 1 minute walk and you will find the The Himalayan Nepali Restaurant. The Hotel Was Fantastic. I Stayed There For 6 Nights and Loved It. Very Good Management and You Can Find All The Information Regarding Macau Sightseeing At Their Desk.

We arrive late at night to check-in. There's this very kind-faced lady who checked us in through my sister's reservation online. She asked for our passports and gave us the room key as soon as she checked the reservation online via the phone. Paperless indeed! There were a couple of magazines and leaflets/flyers on the counter for tourists to check out the events around the city. On the simple hotel lobby is a vending machine for refreshments/water and other drinks. By the way, we exchanged our Philippine money for Macau currency at NAIA (PhP 1000 each) and another thousand each in MIA (Macau International Airport). We went upstairs via the elevator which is reasonable for the hotel's size probably and landed a few feet away from our designated room. It was at the far end of the hallway.

Stayed for a night and staff were very accomodating. They upgraded our room to a bigger one. There are a lot of restaurants within the area and a convenient store walking distance. Staff are very frienly (talked to about 3 of them) and they can clearly understand and speak english. They are also very kind. Hotel is close to senado square and the ruins and bus stops as well. Will definitely stay here again.
