I have not had the chance to stay at this hotel so I am writing based on my review of eating at the cafe house. The hotel itself is beautiful, it has character and unlike those boring normal hotels you find along the casino strips, this one is special and having being used to be a fortress, you do feel... This superb boutique hotel built into the old fortress walls sits near the historic centre and very near the A Ma Temple. But you could be forgiven for wallowing in your room or in the restaurant. We ate there every evening of our stay in Macau ; not out of laziness but because the food was excellent whether taken as... More

Just returned from staying a night at this refurbished fortress. Although done in a slightly kitschy Chinese style, its a nice respite from the craziness of Macau's casino crowd and at the same time close enough to the city center to get back in if you wanted to. Rooms were huge and spacious, we got upgraded to a suite right... More

We stopped here for an hour on our way from Macau back to Hong Kong. We had a delicious glass of cold white wine from Lisbon on the balcony and took a short tour of the hotel. We would definitely stay here if were to head back to the bizarre casino-laden world of Macau. When we arrived we asked for... More

Myself and my partner have just returned from a trip to Hong Kong with a friend who is a native to the country. Having heard about the stunning features of this old hotel we decided to visit the hotel for afternoon tea during a day trip from Hong Kong. Unfortunately the entrance and the staircase were the only good memories... More

This ex-Portugese colony has changed almost out of recognition since I ran a deserted marathon there in 1999. Casinos galore, high rise apartments in abundance and endless streams of traffic now dominate. But one thing hasn't changed : the peace, the character, the charm, and the magic of this old converted fort set in the rocks overlooking the channel to... More

This hotel is a in an out-of-the way corner of Macau, with quiet tree-lined streets and some historical/cultural sites nearby (A-Ma temple). The hotel is set in a fort from Portuguese colonial times dating back to circa 1600s. It is a beautiful structure and recently received a complete renovation, with its twelve suites now featuring amenities like rain shower stall/steam... More

To make my review short, I must say this place is full of history and "magic"... Reading old reviews of the place I was afraid of the service, however at the end of the day it was overwhelming, due to it's quality and efficiency. In a word: Superb. Great wines, excellent food, fantastic room with a great view... Congrats to... More

What a romantic place. The suites are large and very well decorated, and a lot of “Small” details; leather floor, Hermes amenities in the bathroom, 2 big flat scream BO with DVD and surround system, Jacuzzi and the rain fall shower its also a steam room. La Paloma, a real Spanish restaurant with a Spanish Chef from Barcelona. The wine... More
