Spent our wedding night in the fourposter room. Very nice room. Extremely comfy bed and lovely staff and proprieter. Breakfast was excellent. Stayed for Sunday lunch and we were joined by 20 of our family who all rated the lunch excellent quality and value. The beef was sumptuous!!! Perfect end to a fabulous weekend and start to our married life.

Excellent restaurant....I'd honestly say that I haven't had better food/service at a restaurant in this area..probably within Yorkshire and if not further. Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming hosts and excellent food. I cannot recommend enough.

Chose this hotel for two nights while we were collecting a collie from the nearby rescue centre. We and our own dog were made to feel very welcome. Comfortable beds, loads of hot water and excellent food. They even pandered to my diet bothering to make special sauce etc. Nothing but the highest praise. Very reasonably priced. Thank you Richard.

Spent two nights in December whilst visiting family "oop North" Chose for location and good reviews. We were not disappointed. The room was quirkily-shaped, being in the turret, very well furnished with good quality fabrics and comfy bed. Despite two very cold nights, it was nicely warm & cosy. Lashings of hot water and thick, fluffy towels, warm off the... More

We recently stayed for the second time at the Five Rise Locks Hotel, and the visit confirmed our view that this is a great base for our occasional visits to West Yorkshire. If impersonal and soulless chain hotels are your idea of hotel heaven, this probably isn't the place for you, but we felt at home the moment we stepped... More

Overall good experience. The hotel feels and looks more like large B & B. Clean room, good size for an old building like this. Free wi-fi in room was a big plus. Breakfast was traditional English, good quality, local and fresh items. This is really located in a low density suburban, rather than rural setting. There is a lot of... More

This was disappointing as it is an older building and could be truly gorgeous. Unfortunately the best use hasn't been made of the period property. The large bedroom was clean but had no character or features that make it memorable. Friendly family who run it. Good cooked food at breakfast but really cheap paper napkins let it down. Also, no... Dear outoftown, Thanks for the review, unfortunately in the 60's most of the original Victorian features were removed. We have tried to keep all that was left in and by mixing furniture old and new we try to create an ambience. Glad you enjoyed the Breakfast, we take on board your comments re coffee and napkins. We do cater for... More

We have just returned from a two night stay at this family run hotel and were very impressed with the friendly helpful service we received. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and deserves the AA Rosette status it has been awarded.
