We stayed at the Castello for three nights. Had a great view, it is centrally located in Tuscany, quiet, private, and off the beaten path, but close to so many Tuscan towns. The rooms are large by European standards, the bathroom updated. The breakfasts are very much above the norm and the restaurant provides well prepared, delicious meals - including... More

The castle is located about 50 mins from Siena. There are limited rooms and we were lucky enough to score the Valley View room. It had beautiful views of the valley below from every room- including the toilet!! The room consisted of bedroom, dining room, kitchenette and bathroom. All very clean and spacious. Even though we were on our honeymoon... More

We stayed her in September on our honeymoon. The hotel room was overall very nice but the it has very strict rules. Room: Decent bed and nice sitting furniture. There is no TV but if you come to a castle to watch TV then you probably should look for a holiday inn. The shower was great high pressure with lots... More

SORRY, YOU ARE NOT IN THE CLUB REAL FRIENDS OF LA RIPA. First of all for this and other reviews on T.A. we do thank you the public administrations of San quirico d’Orcia and Castiglione d’orcia, owners of the road that leads to the castle. Thanks to them and to their politics and ideology made of social hatred and envy,... More

ARROGANCE AS RULE OF LIFE. Dear Guests, thank you for your review, We like to say that this place is for everyone but those who here we must kindly call “Gentlemen”… those arrogant, bad mannered people whose philosophy is : “money buys everything”, “guests are always right”, “I work, I earn money, I pay so I WANT…”. Those who treat... More

This place was amazing! We drove down from Florence and it took a little longer to find the place than I expected, so I recommend allowing extra time and planning your arrival around 3 pm, since they close the reception at 6 pm. Our GPS tried to take us down an impassable dirt path, so beware! The next morning, we... More

CUT A PINE TREE CLOSE TO THE POOL . Dear Guest, thanking for your review we need to inform you that, during your stay, our pool robot at the end of the day checked and found only 5 pine tree leaves (maybe due to the water refraction the view was deceived), 2 Tuscan cypress berries, 1 poppy flower and one... We are the other couple that was with the reviewer turtlefly below, and wanted to put our input in on the situation, and tell the truth. We can not speak on room cleanliness but the area we did see was average, which is what 3 stars is... Next, they lied about offering help to find another place.... stay in town!... More

This is a special place, and it's not for everyone (see negative reviews). Don't come here if you are looking for a luxury hotel, or even the accommodations of an ordinary hotel. As the owners clearly explain on their web site, you won't find such services here. Instead, come here if you want exceptional natural beauty, peace, and quiet in... More

If you have children stop right now and move on to some place else. Made reservations here and drove all the way from Rome to find they do not accept children. Granted I made the assumption that having a 6 month old was no issue because we have our own bed for him. However, they only turned us away with... More

We have made 3 trips to the Ripa, as we affectionately call it, over the past few years and we absolutely love it. Our most recent trip was in April 2010 and the Ripa was as wonderful as ever. The owners are superb hosts in all respects. The location is spectacular, the buildings surrounding the castello are magical, the rooms... More

This is my first Trip Advisor review. I am 67 and my wife is 65. Over the years we've made a number of trips to Europe. We cannot recommend Castello di Ripa. It is a unique setting with tremendous potential but it is the first place where we have ever ended a reservation early. The place appears to be run... More
