Our stay was most enjoyable, relaxed and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast a pleasure and the setting peaceful and tranquil. I can honestly recommend a stay at The Saffron House

My Fiance and I had an unforeseen experience that meant that we could not fly back to Cape Town. Luckily we knew of the Saffron house and contacted for a reservation, it was well after 7 in the evening but Ian was at hand and confirmed availability for us. we arrived well 9 that evening, but where greeted by Ian... I found Saffron House to be most pleasant. I had booked a few days away from the city just to catch my breath after a busy and stressful few months. Both Ian and Jenny were most welcoming and helpful during my stay, and the staff are cheerful and friendly. My room was neat, clean and well appointed; everything worked and... More

The Saffron House is a great place to stay. Jenny and Ian have become close friends and little Jack our 'grandson'. The Saffron House gives great hospitality, superb breakfasts and easy access to the beach. Salt Rock is a haven of tranquility with the opportunity to walk miles on the beach and great cycling too. It is a far cry... More

The Saffron House - easy to find and has the most amazing friendly hosts- we were made to feel like part of the family and nothing was a problem!! We arrived after a long flight from England and Ian was great!! Showed us our rooms and carried all our luggage.....thanks again Ian! Breadfast and morning coffee with Jenny was the... More

First off, I want to say the Saffron house was beautiful and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the house and its location right off the highway and a safe walk to the beach (where we got to swim in the Indian Ocean for the first time!). We flew into Durban on New Year’s Day, stayed one night at The Saffron House,... More

I felt I had to write this review to warn others after my experience here. Myself and my husband had a similar experience to previous reviewers, and after experiencing the owners manner first hand I can believe how they would choose to lay the fault of a bad review with the reviewer rather than examining their hosting skills and guest... Thanks for your review. As a British person we thought you might understand the term "another terrible day in Africa" as being sarcastic. We couldn't ask to live in a better place in the world. We advise our guests that we live in the flat at the bottom of the house if they need us just knock the door, we... More

We stayed here for one night only, thank goodness. We were greeted with "Hello I'm Ian, sign here, this is your room, here's your key". He was very offhand. We never met or were introduced to his wife. It was Boxing Day and everything seemed too much trouble. Maybe this is his usual manner or maybe he took an instant... More

Dear David, thank you for taking the time to write your review of your stay with us, again we were expecting another bad one from you, it appears that only people who have a bad experience appear to be writing reviews at the moment! We stayed 2 nights at The Saffron House which was a mistake. We received a surly short welcome, given very little information and told if we didn't use the complimentary map of the area to give it back on our departure. The owner's attitude left us in no doubt they are not warm hosts. She was clipped and short with... More

I stayed in this hotel for just a few days whilst attending the Climate change Conference in Durban. Although it was some distance away from Durban, it was an excellent choice! It is a small property and feels like you are in a home with a family. The room I was in was nice, cozy and clean. The hosts/owners were... More
