“fake castle, empty luxury”

The "castle" looked odd to us. Talking with locals, we quickly realized that this "castle" was indeed a house built between the two wars. Firstly a caveat: I don't think we were typical visitors in that we came by taxi (did not have our own car) and had seen this as a couple of days relaxing and doing nothing. We have stayed at Château de Montbrun several times since 1998. Andre (the chef), Ginette, and the other household staff have become like family to us. The cuisine is superb, the accommodations exquisite, and the location perfect.
