We stayed here a couple of days. Whilst the surroundings are not luxurious the room we have was great and clean. Not noisy at all (we were above a hardware shop) abd the food was great - big portions and nice and freshly cooked and Hot! Go to Cragside if you are lovers of Arts & Crafts - take your... More

If you haven't visited the Northumbria National Park, you really should. It is every bit as beautiful as the Peak District, much less busy, and matches many Scottish destinations for scenery. When you go, stay at the Newcastle Hotel, a building of substance in a charming village - and situated right next door to the Park Information Centre. Here you... More

Stayed here for 2 nights as a KGB voucher deal- comfortable room (rm 6) though bed was a small double, had no complaints. Room looked out onto the high street but no traffic noise. Very small village so not 'lively' - juke box is the loudest thing and it went off at 10.45. Excellent service- good food- try the daily... More

Called in for lunch before going walking in the nearby countryside. The fish, chips and mushy peas was just as it should be. Generous portions and cooked just right. Staff very friendly and the service was good. If in Rothbury, here's where to eat.

We did not stay here but had a meal during our short break in Rothbury. When we walked into the bar, we were greeted cheerily. Sat at the bar for a drink and decided to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant part. The food was amazing - the fish pie was full of large chunks of fish including... More
