We stayed at this hotel at the end of a diving trip in Raja Ampat and it was much better than expected. The hotel is located directly across the road from the airport, so it is very convenient. The room was clean and fresh and the airconditioning worked well. The restaurant/bar has free wifi and a nice area to sit.... More

We just finished magnificent 7 days diving in Raja Ampat and had to stay 1 night in Sorong. JE meridien was ok. Room was big and moderately clean. Food was alright. Bed was comfortable with clean sheets. TV came with international channels like HBO, Cinemax, and Fox Movies. That's a big plus. On the downsides, the whole hotel was full... More

We stayed here twice recently, at the beginning and end of a diving holiday in Raja Ampat. The rooms on both occasions were large and clean with good air conditioning. The bathrooms were fine and clean also. The water was hot, towels fluffy! The beds were comfortable and each time we had a good sleep. There is a lift to... More

My friends and I stayed a night at this place, after coming off from a dive trip at Raja Ampat, to wait for our flight out of Sorong the following morning. As all we wanted was a place where we could take a hot shower, and have a comfortable sleep, our expectations were minimal. We took a room with 2... More

I arrived in Sorong at night in a downpour and this hotel is opposite the airport - I had not made a previous booking and therefore they were full that night. However, the receptionist organised a room for me at the Mariat hotel down the road (very grim but I was tired and it was the closest one to the... More

The J E Meridien is right across the road from the airport in Sorong. If you travelling in Papua and Papua Barat you will often find yourself transiting through Sorong. This is what I call a typical Indonesian Hotel. It is of a reasonable standard. Anyone travelling through Indonesia will come across hotels like this. It's not always the cleanest,... More

Great location just opposite the Sorong airport. The hotel is always clean, beds are good, AC works great (in rooms), there is satellite TV and (if you remember to turn it on) plenty of hot water for showers. The restaurant serves tasty Indonesian/Chinese food. Cold Bintang (beer)! I run trips for divers in Raja Ampat, several each year, and we... More

We stayed one night at Sorong before our domestic departure back to Jakarta the next day (at the end of our Raja Ampat dive trip). No one really comes to Sorong for fun. You are either on a business trip or you are in transit for your dive trip. There is absolutely nothing to do in this town for a... More

On my trip through Indonesia I was quite surprised by the great JE Meridien Hotel in the middle of nowhere (Sorong). Its been a great place to 'catch a breath'; clean rooms (even for Western standards), great helpful staff, and the best Fu Yung Hai I've ever eaten! (it still haunts me) There's only 2 issues with it: - Sorong... More

We used this hotel as a stopover on a diving trip in Raja Ampat, not least because it's so close to the airport. As such it's fine - remember, Sorong is one of the more remote places on Earth so, even though this clearly is the best hotel in town, don't expect Ritz standards of luxury! Having said that, the...
