Spotless roomy cabins, excellent food, a beautiful beach which was often completely deserted. No noise, no pollution, very few people. Perfect! (Don't forget to take a torch, and harden yourself up against those cold showers.)

My girlfriend and i spent a wonderful couple of days here during our trip to Colombia.
As much luxury as you could have without any electricity and at the empty end of an already quiet and beautiful beach.
The only problem we found was that you couldn't swim in the sea as it was quite wild and apparently has dangerous...

After staying in a couple of very rustic places, we were apprehensive about El Matuy -- we were craving creature comforts. But El Matuy is rustic in all the good ways and none of the bad ways. It was romantic, charming, relaxing.
The cabanas are large and airy. They have beautiful wood floors, plaster walls (not thatch), and windows with...

El Matuy is fantastic. Really. The location, the cananas, the food, the lightening in the evenings. Everything there is built to make you relax - you don't have to worry about anything but some mosquitos during sunset. Nice vibe, we met a lot of nice people (mostly around 30 years and up) since you eat together. But you can also...

If you want to experience something completely different this is the place for you. It is a real paradise in the Caribbean. Excelent place for relax. I've been to El Matuy in many different ocations and have never had any complain. All of my visits have been wonderful in every aspect.
We wanted to treat ourselves to a hut on the beach and this was it.
It is amazing, the huts are beautiful, with outdoor shower, and then out front a hamock on the front stoop. The food is exceptionally good, from travelling for 6 months in south america, this was up there in my top 5 places to eat.
So...

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tranquil place with impressive ocean. Hiking through desserted beaches and rivers are very entertaining. Perfect for reading, relaxing and romantic evenings. My favourite place in Colombia
My husband, six year old daughter, and I spend six days at Reserva Natural El Matuy. It is one of the few locations left on the planet where you can stay right on the beach and are only surrounded by coconut palms and beach as far as you can see. This is a beautiful location!! The rooms are rustic cabanas,...

I have stayed at El Matuy many times and it's always my favorite place to go back to whenever I want to go to Palomino.
The place is gorgeous, the sight seeing near by is wonderful and the food and accommodation is unbeatable. Yes, it's rustic, it has no electricity and it's located on the beach, which makes it even...

We stayed a very short 2 nights at El Matuy. I think a third night would have been perfect as when arriving we did not get there till late afternoon and when leaving we left after lunch. The setting is so so beautiful and cabins nicely spaced apart so you really feel like you are the only ones on the...
