Finally went to this place in Jan 2013 after wanting to go there for a couple of years and it was worth the wait. Its a great place if you dont mind creepies and crawlies but one has to realise that we are encroaching on their habitat. The whole place is done up really well and you cant ask for... More

I am a city person and was persuaded by a friend to go to the Hermitage. I was delighted. The place is in the middle of nowhere and you will need to arrange for someone to collect you. The power goes off regularly and the rooms are basic, but the food, conversation and general ambiance more than makes up for... More

The guesthouse is situated amongst farmland and forest and is several kilometres from the nearest town. The owners have taken a lot of care in the design and maintenance of the rooms and common areas, and it is a lovely spot to relax. We stayed with two kids and they enjoyed the variety of wildlife around (frogs, spiders, snakes and... More

I came across The Hermitage while looking for offbeat places in India and immediately knew I wanted to go there! I'm glad I did. The last 3-4 km leading up to The Hermitage are literally through the forest on a dirt road, with no street lights & no signs - kind of prepping you for what's to come. We stayed... More

My husband and i stayed at the hermitage guest house (45 km from belgaum) in early May 2012. Have to say this one was a real find! While the rest of India was reeling under the summer heat, at the hermitage guest house it felt more like november weather. We chose to stay in the cottage that was fully electrified... More

We have beene travelling to India regularly over the last 25 years and the Hermitage is one of our favourite places. We visited this beautiful farm with our 5 year old son in December 2010 and had the most wonderful experience: walks to the local villages and forest, swimming in secluded waterholes and great evening meals with our interesting and... It is a beautiful place, with no cell network and no electricity. We went with our 9 year old daughter and we stayed at the machan. It is a bit cramped for three but we are in the room only to sleep. The common area is the place to hang out, meet likeminded guests and have conversation with the absolutely... More

The Hermitage was not just a quiet place to collect your thoughts and relax, but a unique opportunity to see something different in India. I was feeling so overwhelmed and after spending 3 nights here with my partner I was rejuvenated and able to take on the rest of my holiday with more ease. The hosts David and Morvarid were... More
