This is a charming place to stay in the truly wonderful 'Puebla Magica' of Real de Catorce. Mayra was a gracious host (Lucio was away), and our room was fantastic! Thick rock walls to hold the heat through the night, a very comfortable bed. Great views over the village day or especially night. Even without the altitude (close to 10,000... More

An small, private and friendly place for a couple or families, not for the crew. Far enough from the main street of the town for quietness, but close enough to walk there and have some drinks at the bars. Assisted by the owners, all the food is organic, growth by them just in front of you. Clean rooms and fair... More

We had a wonderful time staying with Mayra and Lucio, most genial hosts. Their warmth, helpfulness, knowledge of the area and great food made our second stay in Real de Catorce the best ever. We enjoyed taking the hikes they recommended and relaxing in the lovely garden and terrace. The breakfasts and dinners are a marvel, especially Lucio's homemade bacon... More

More

I spent three nights with mi lawyer colombian girlfriend and really we enjoyed the time over there. Since the booking, Mayra, the chilanga who owns the place with Lucio, her italian husband, was very fast in answering mails and phone calls. Lucio, the chef, served us meals in our own room (the big one —the Grey), home made bread, pizza,... More

My wife and I loved this place! The rooms are beautiful, but the best part for us was Lucio's unbelievable Italian dishes. You should definitely eat dinner here when you come! The owners are very cool and made us feel right at home. They have good internet and great beds and mattresses. We loved the views of both the town... More

The Refugio is high above the entrance to Real at the end of a hard climb to the top of a dusty street. The views are magnificent ,both from the roof and the gardens, and in some cases from the rooms. On a moonlit night it is magical. As is the case in many towns like Real, I find that... More

Refugio Romano would be classified as a bed-and-breakfast if breakfasts were included in the room rate. (Meals are available for purchase.) This small and attractive property has only three guest rooms, the orange, grey, and blue rooms. The rest of the property consists of appealing common areas, a kitchen/dining room, and the owners' residence. Traveling with my trophy wife and... More
