Without a doubt the worst experience I have ever encountered at a Scottish resort. On arrival I was told that they never had any record of my pre paid room, so after an hour they finally got me a room. As I was shown to my room I was told not to drink the water as it was harmful and... More

After a 4 hour drive to Loch Awe side. My brother and I arrived at Portsonachan Hotel, which is set in probably the most beautiful part of this fine country. However that was the extent of our good impression. Once inside the reception are we descovered that our pre-payed room had not been booked. After an hour waiting for the... More

Our three day break was booked at the Game Fair last year. When we arrived at the hotel, many other guests told us that they too had booked their break at various high profile local shows. In hindsight, it is a clever way of securing the cash flow for the business without needing to worry too much about the product... More

What a lovely spot for a hotel. We took advantage of their offer at the London Destination Show of £198 B&B for 2 for 3 nights. As it would seem did many others. However their reception and booking system is totally inadequate and when we arrived on Monday 21 May2012 were greeted as were others of no record of our Loch... More

I read many of the reviews on this site with a feeling of dread because I had booked a short break here. I need not have worried, my husband and I have just returned from a wonderful break at the Portsonachan self catering lodges. Yes, the weather was exceptional but even without that we would have had a great time.... More

We have just arrived back from a 3 night stay which was booked last year at a food fesstival. When we booked it we were really looking forward to going up to this Hotel as it looked lovely and the views looked fantastic. After a 6 1/2 hour drive we arrived at this stunning location which took our breath away... More

Like other reviewers we had booked a 3 day break from a show offer. There is a deterrent straight away before arriving at the Hotel and that is the 4 mile trip from the A819 up a single track road in various stages of repair. After negotiating the undulating road you eventually arrive at the Hotel which is in a... More

The elderly couple who sat near us in the restaurant on our first night's dinner probably summed it up. They had been coming for years and said it was essential to bring a sense of humour. This advice kept us in good stead for the rest of the 3 day break we had booked at a travel show over a... More

We didn't know what to expect after reading the varied comments on here but maybe this helped for an enjoyable experience The staff were brilliant - the receptionist printed train times to Oban - they all said hello when passing through the hotel. Food was perfectly ok and a good breakfast in really nice restaurant. The hotel clearly needs some... More

Booked this 3 night stay at a country fair last year. Having stayed here before about 8 years ago, thought it was a goos deal. Stayed over the long weekend of the May day bank holiday, with two friends On arriving we were allocated our room. Clean and comfy, slight noise as was over the kitchen. We went down to... More
