It was wonderful "al fresco" weather and we decided to have tea and sandwiches at the Riverside which to be fair is in a very nice setting, in the very pretty village of Ashford in the Water. Having eaten in the village tea room in the past, we decided to try the Riverside despite the obvious extra expense - we... More

Nice approach to a nice looking house in a very attractive location, pity about the road noise but they can't help that. Welcoming girl booked us in but did not offer to help with the luggage. The room was small but seemed smaller due to the amount of furniture, we had to move the furniture to open a window and... More

The rooms were luxurious and beautiful. We were greeted by facilities of tea, coffee and hot chocolate - this was just the beginning. In addition, there were home made biscuits, a bowl of peanuts, a decanter of sherry, and a bowl of fresh fruit. Unfortunately the milk, kept in a flask, not in the mini fridge, was off. The evening... More

...was superb. We didn't stay in the hotel but we decided to have our meal in the restaurant. There was an offer for 2 or 3 courses which i would gladly give more money as the food was excellent. I ordered stuffed chicken and it was a dream. Melted in mouth and the mushroom sauce was one of a kind.... More

This Hotel is in a lovely location and ideal for a quiet break. It is old fashioned and quaint throughout. All the public rooms are small, providing a level of intimacy and privacy. There is no gym, swimming pool or wifi, just character. The staff are very pleasant and attentive. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Fresh... More

The Hotel was quaint and very oldy worldy with a log fire and small adjoining rooms to relax in.The service was first class with a very good evening meal and breakfast. We had a special offer for bed & breakfast including evening meal at full price. The overall cost was a little dearer than we wanted to pay but was... More

Thia is a country house hotel but is beside a village which adds interest to the visit. It is also convenient to attractive villages and Chatsworth House which is a must. Reception is efficient and friendly as are all the staff. There are steep stairs to carry the case up and some help there would be good. The hotel is... More

We've been here several times in twenty years, including having our wedding reception here (and staying the first night of our married life). It used to be the doctor's house years ago - and is simply so comfortable and beautiful, you could believe it is a private home. I would say it is exceptional in every way - a great... More

Stayed here one sunday night in August after a weekend in the peak district. It is a small country some original features. The person carrying out the receptionist/ general manager/waitress roles was very efficient and welcoming. We had a nice enough room for the night with a welcoming selection of fruit and refreshments. We had dinner in the hotel's dining... More
