This is without doubt the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in. The management were so courteous and friendly. Our room was huge and beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very quiet despite the fact that the hotel/pub is situated on the main road through the village. We stayed here for two nights on our way up to Scotland and only... More

My wife and I visited the Black Bull, while staying with friends in Northumberland. Our friends booked a table for Thursday 7:30pm. When we arrived we found that it was quiz night. After sitting in a lovely sunny bay window with our drinks, whilst we perused the menu and ordered our food, we were shown to our table at the... More

We travelled to The Black Bull from St. Andrews and were exhausted when we arrived, early and ready for a cup of tea. Geoff, the proprietor answered our phone call saying we were outside within minutes and was so kind when he arrived. We were shown to our rooms, which were spotlessly clean, bright and warm. We spent 2 nights... More

We only stayed a night but felt at home straight away. The owners are lovely and their staff were very helpful and friendly. They are dog friendly throughout the pub and accommodation. The building it self is very old and beautiful with pictures and artifacts all over the walls and shelves making an interesting walk around. Very random gift shop... More

Turned up early on a bitterly snowy day and were welcomed in with great hospitality. Host was well informed and informative, service very prompt and well considered, good size en suite room with large bath and unimited hot water. Meals were tasty 'top grade' pub food and the included breakfast was excellent, hot freshy cooked and delicious. The 'Black Bull' is... More

Came across this haven on a day trip around north Northumberland. It was cold and frosty outside but the welcome inside was warm and friendly. We chose items from the starters on a comprehensive menu (smoked makerel and deep fried camembert). Both with a pleasant salad and ample for a lunch time snack. Only fault was that the red wine... My husband and i came to stay for a couple of nights in Jan, we arrived in the snow and the welcome from Jeff couldn't have been warmer. Our room was lovely and we were able to relax in a nice hot bath before having a meal. The food was fantastic, both the evening meals and the breakfasts. The staff... More

Had a very enjoyable new year break here Had dinner on both nights and both the service and food were excellent. Throughout our stay we were all treated so well by all the staff. The rooms were good though the bathroom was in need of decoration. Room was a very good size and all amenities required. At all times it... More
