After a bouncy ride thru the mountains from Arenal, we were pleased to arrive at this outstanding hotel in Monteverde. We were traveling thru Costa Rico, with just names and phone numbers for hotels that were available to us thru Costa Ricon Trails. We were not disappointed with this hotel at all, friendly staff and great dinning. I highly recommend... More

We spent two nights at El Establo and were very happy. We had reservations elsewhere that did not work out so we were "walk-ins" and got a great rate. May is off-season so the resort was not overly crowded. We were in building 5, close to Laggus restaurant where breakfast was served on our first morning and where we had... More

We visited Costa Rica for the first time and it was our first vacation abroad US. It was a complete adventure for my girlfriend and myself, with just one guidebook. We went first to San Jose, and our next stop Monteverde. Let me say that sometimes tripadvisor is misleading, we went to the top hotels on the list first, and... More

After a long and sometimes bumpy ride we arrived at the El Establo hotel in Monteverde what a beautiful place, we were greeted and taken to our rooms up the hill, the view was great! Quick shower then off to dinner at the restaurant at the top of the hill by the lake, food and service was excellent some of... More

I stayed here on a tour of Costa Rica hosted by the Tourism Board. Our group was lodged in the 8th building (out of 9) up the hill behind the main reception area. This property is VERY spread out which requires you to either walk long distances (almost a mile from our room to reception) or to call the hotel... More

Monteverde was a much needed stop during my Costa Rica trip. I stayed 2 nights at the El Establo hotel, its a well established and family owned mountain hotel. There is no AC in the room but it wasn't needed. It was cool. The hotel room is large and receiptionists were quite friendly. I liked my stop there, the hotel... More

This hotel offered an amazing view, but because the property is so large we had to shuttle it from our room (700 block) to and from the reception area. The shuttle was complementary and quite quick to come, but was inconvenient as we couldn't pop in and out of our room. The walk up was quite steep and would have... More

That was one expensive hotel unjustifiably costing twice than any other hotel in its area. We took it thinking the price must come with a reason. Reading reviews of other travelers, being afraid of dirty hotel rooms, crawling insects, and cramped restrooms - so we thought a big expensive organized hotel must be safer. we were wrong. We met many... More

This hotel was wonderful. Everyone was so accommodating. We had an issue with another hotel and our travel agent had us moved. The whole process was done smoothly by the El Establo staff and they were on top of trying to make us comfortable. The breakfast was good. Dinner was good too, but over priced. The hotel is centrally located,... More

This hotel has all the potential to be excellent but it lets itself down on several things. We stayed two nights recently whilst on our honeymoon. Our experience got off to a pretty bad start. We arrived at 12.30pm and got briefed on the hotel, they explained when breaksfast was etc and took a copy of my credit card for... More
