The reality was that we were the only English family on this very French site, which was not a problem. The toilet/shower blocks are unisex and open 24/7, with plenty of hot water, which again is par for the course with most European sites. There's virtually no segregation as happens on many British sites. The climate dictates that the grass on the pitches isn't lush; most of the pitches were grassy and some were sandy earth. Ideally, specify a grassy pitch as the fine sand gets everywhere and requires constant brushing of the floor of awnings.
