  "This is a small, fairly modest hotel on the fringe of the Wendisch Rietz "Ferienpark," a development of Scandinavian-style holiday homes. It's not right on the bank of the lake as some booking sites imply, but about five minutes walk from the lake, the Ferienpark's marina, and a small beach, and als..."o about 5 minutes walk from Wendisch Rietz's main street. (Wendisch Rietz is about a half hour drive from the better-known spa resort town of Bad Saarow at the opposite end of the beautiful Scharmützelsee, the largest lake in the State of Brandenburg.) The hotel is newly-built and the rooms are fairly large by German standards and attractively furnished. The free wifi didn't function, but the hotel management lent me a cable to hook into their wired internet. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our arrival was greeted with a real welcome and the staff were genuinely friendly, chatty and knowledgeable about the local area. Room was very pleasant and the lake shore is not even a five minute walk away. Breakfast wa..."s excellent, with an astounding choice of buffet options and an amazing selection of speciality teas. We hired bikes from the hotel and cycled around the lake (allow 4hours) which is a brilliant way to spend a morning. Even without my rose-tinted spectacles, this is a really good hotel run by people who enjoy hospitality and have made it their speciality. Wouldn't hesitate to book again, especially if I can persuade the young lady who came with me to come along again. A great hotel in a beautiful part of Germany and well worth making a detour for.
