  "We stayed at this hotel in April for 2 nights. It was my wife’s Birthday. We were initially shown one of the rooms at the back of the hotel which had not been renovated - very poor - horrid shower head, mould around windows, etc. We asked reception if any other rooms were available which there was ..."and we were shown a much better room at the side of the hotel with a fine view of Helm Crag. The room was pleasant and very comfortable but was not recently renovated. The Breakfast in the hotel is very good a nice selection from the buffet and a very good full English (or should that be Macdonald's Scottish breakfast?) The evening meals are excellent. We had a mixed platter for 2 as a starter one night followed by Lamb which was the best lamb I have ever tasted. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially the young lady who was on reception when we arrived and sorted out the new room . All in all a very good hotel for exploring this part of the Lakes with plenty of "walks from ... " More >
