  "I stayed a couple of nights in June and thought this place was excellent value. It’s in a great location to get a bus to town, walk to the Metro in 15 mins, or walk to the Colosseum in less than 30 mins. The rooms are modern, clean and spacious, with wi-fi, power showers and good air-con. ..."The hosts were warm, friendly and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble. The plentiful breakfasts included bread, fruits, ham, cheese etc. You can also pop in to the kitchen to make yourself a quick snack during the day/evening. On the second day, Giacomo even brought my favourite cereal. Staying on the subject of food/drink… when you’re touring the Pantheon/Trevi fountain areas I’d also recommend a visit to Sant Eustachio café for great coffee, or San Crispino for fabulous fruit flavoured ice cream.   "As countless others have pointed out in other reviews, the Hotel Smeraldo and its annex (Dipendenza) are located in an absolutely wonderful area of historic central Rome, within very easy walking distance of many significant tourist sites, including the very atmospheric Campo dei Fiori. The propert..."ies are extremely clean, with very modern bathrooms, air conditioning and flat screen TVs. Rooms are small (especially the single rooms) but all connected by elevator, and there are roof-top terraces. The properties suffer from one insurmountable adversary: noise (not from cars, but people walking along the Via dei Giubbonari towards the Campo dei Fiori at all hours of the day and well into the early morning hours of darkness). The stone pavements, stone buildings and narrow steets and alleys act as canyons which permit the noise to float vertically into the air (so that staying on the fourth floor will not shield you). Keeping the double-pained windows closed won't be enough, and only... " More >
