We had missed the last cable car to Murren, but we rang the hotel and they gave us exact instructions about what to do. Upon arrival in Murren, we were met by the owner who took us directly to the hotel. The chef had finished for the evening, but that wasn't a problem - we were offered hot toasted sandwiches ad a complimentary drink in the lounge/bar area. The hotel is immaculate. The staff are attentive and nothing is too much trouble.   "We enjoyed our two night stay in Murren at the Hotel Alpina. The hotel's location is really wonderful, just a short walk from the Murren station and on the edge of the cliff affording a incredible view either in your room or at breakfast in their lounge. The rooms are small, but cozy with everything..." that you need, typical of a Swiss mountain hotel. While there were several other guests nearby, our room was surprisingly quiet. Breakfast is included, and it's a nice spread of assorted breads and cereal with even some meat and cheese. And, if you're anxious to start hiking early or need to get to a train, you can tell them the night before and instead of breakfast, they'll pack you a lunch. What service. At night, you can get drinks in the lounge as well which they will charge to your room. Murren is a great location, especially if you like the outdoors and avoiding tour crowds.   "Yes- as reviewer have mentioned it was right next to the Gondola (not the train station) so since we had a rental car we had parked a the bottom and rode up - it was a good location for getting luggage in and out. Clean room - mattress is not great but it is Europe... They were very friendly and ye..."s the 1 breakfast at the Piz Gloria was very nice ( the lift/ gondola up is v expensive thou..) We caught it just as the clouds were rolling in so - glad we saw some of the amazing views. (Heard that there was a 40% off gondola coupon - we did not get that - only the 20% off early a.m. but still $$) What I did not realize is that MAY is "shoulder season" and much was closed. This hotel and the guest house across from the train were the only 2 open!
