  "The glowing reviews are all correct. We decided to go here after a day at Kamakura, and though it's not all that close really, it was a nice 'halfway' point between Tokyo and Kyoto. The accom was incredibly good for the price if you're after a traditional experience, and the onsens (private and publ..."ic) are ok too. Ito is a nice town, and at the end of my trip it became apparent that just because a place isn't on the main tourist list doesn't mean it's not worth spending time in. The A room with river view was very large with a divided room which was nice for the family. The only thing you miss here from a full Ryokan is breakfast supplied and having to make your own bed, for about 1/4 of the price. Also, to add icing to the cake, the very close by restaurant Kunihachi is great, with set meal of local sashimi for a cheap Y980.   "Wouw. We chose to plan a 1-night stop in Izu-kogen at Hanafubuki based on information from our travelagent. Now staying at another Ryokan in Japan, we are so happy we got to experience Hanafubuki and would give our warmest recommendation to anyone planning a trip in the area, or even do it as a ..."detour going from/to Tokyo to Nagoya/Takayama/Kyoto. Hanafubuki is a short walk from Izu-Kogen station with direct trains from Tokyo multiple times per day. We arrived a bit early and were asked to wait until 2 pm when there would be English speaking staff and our room would be ready. It was beautiful weather so we walked down to the coast and to the suspension bridge nearby. Upon return we were greeted warmly by Mrs X (unfortunately we cannot remember her name) who speaks English fluently.   "Check In - Very easy and efficient. Friendly helpful staff, great location, wonderful rooms and lots of nice touches. If we needed anything, the staff was quick to respond. Our room was impeccably clean, very comfortable and the bed was great. All in all, a great trip and would definately go back."
