The Cranwell Resort turned out to be a good compromise; we booked a room with two double beds in a converted mansion, Beecher's Cottage, which overlooks the golf course. On arrival, we pulled into the expansive resort, passed the great brown Mansion on a hill, checked in at the registration lobby near the spa, then found the Beechers less than a quarter mile into the well maintained grounds. The Beecher's is a lovely old school "cottage", with a pleasant entrance,a four foot wide front door, and large staircase reaching up its three stories.
