Let's be honest, it's not cheap, but was it worth it? Hell yeah! Ate here on 27 march 2012 the lamb was just to die for for, the beer cold and poured nicely.

Possibly the best pasta dish I've ever had. The other meals in our group were also to a very high standard. Really enjoyed it - were late eating so was getting dark but a beautiful spot should have come earlier to enjoy the view and the fire would be lovely during the winter!
And there was no one else there, making dinner a little eerie. We were staying there, and the chalet was nice inside, but had a limited view because of flora. Nice, but seemed a bit under-utilized. Friendly owners and friendly cats helped a little.
Salmon was excellent, presentation was superb. A very nice meal in a location where you wouldn't expect it.
If you get the chance to visit this restaurant I bet you won't be disappointed. Marg really does understand food and service......she even makes her own cheese! The best place to eat if you can make the journey but not open every night so ring first or you could stay as accommodation is top notch too. Good walks and caves...

We stayed two nights at Riverstone Karamea just before Christmas 2010. Highly recommended - what a find! A lovely warm welcome from Marg the Owner; a top lady. The thoughtfully designed chalet, one of two, was immaculate and well presented, making for a very relaxing and comfortable stay. Marg runs a delightful Restaurant and Bar with a fine wine list....

We had Christmas at Riverstone. Such a special time my family and I had.
Riverstones location, restaurant, food, villas, service were absolutely stunning.
We were away from all the hussle and bussle of the city but had access to the world at large when we wanted to. Riverstone was a wonderful place to just relax, unwind, reflect.
We just loved...
