We ate in the residents dining room for breakfast and dinner during our stay in november and found the menu offered a great range of high quality local food.
Couldn't have asked for. Light lunch needed crab sandwiches were lovely as was the fresh salad & not forgetting the wonderful local ale. Attentive service from all staff was welcome as were the directions tobget us to Edinburgh the scenic route with no hurry.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed your lunch with us, and sincerely hope that you enjoyed the rest of your trip. More
Had a meal here, chosen because the menu said they served food other than sea-food. We were told the advertised menu was about 18 months out of date. The fish was large but mine wasn't cooked through and the batter was soggy.I wouldn't choose to eat here again.
I am sorry that this guest's fish and chips were not up to our usual standards. We are well known in the area for the excellent quality of our fresh fish, and I feel sure that our chefs would have made every effort to replace this meal if the problem had been brought to their attention at the time. After a visit to Dunstanburgh Castle we were driving north through Embleton and needed somewhere for lunch. This hotel was the obvious choice and we were very pleased to have found it. The girl who welcomed us in was very friendly and chatty especially with our young granddaughter. We had a nice local beer and the food was freshly prepared... More
Many thanks for your review, the team were very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit. We do hope that we will see you in Embleton again soon. More
we decided on lunch at this hotel on sunday the 6,10,13 , we enquired before hand about booking as there were 12 of us ,we were told that this was fine as long as we were all in by 1.45 as they stopped taking food orders by then ! we were in and seated by this time no problem we... More
I am genuinely sorry if the quality of the potatoes, burgers etc was below our usual standard, however, we do not usually have to keep food hot for so long whilst waiting for customers who arrive so late for a lunch reservation. The first of this party did indeed arrive at 1.45pm as their review suggests, however, the final members... More
Dunstanburgh Castle manages to bridge the gap between a pub and a restaurant - it was pleasantly "posh" with great service without losing the informality of a country pub. We were very impressed with the friendly and efficient service here and amazed at the great value for money. The food was tasty and freshly cooked. The real ale beers were... More
This is a small village hotel which caters for residents and visitors Food is always good and reasonably priced, never spectacular but always reliably good Fresh local produce with an emphasis on foods from the sea Lobster and crab are excellent and there is always a catch of the day
My husband, 3 year old daughter and I popped in for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was busy but the manager / head waiter shuffled a couple of small tables together to accommodate us. He was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, freshly cooked and the portions were very generous. Most items such as bread and desserts are made from... More
The restaurant has great food and the prices were manageable. Excellent desserts, accommodating for children's portions. Come with your appetite as the servings are large. Breakfast was delicious as well. Staff very accommodating. Wonderful dining experience.
I popped in for a Friday lunch as it was recommended by my fishmonger, also their fishmonger. In the end, after discussion with the really friendly barmaid/waitress I didn't choose the fish but a vegetable curry. Great pint of Landlord while choosing and waiting. The curry tasted really fresh and properly spicy, the rice clearly was freshly cooked, and the... More
