The best last year. Tied with Chez Leo this year. Both chefs are sophisticated. In Vancouver's very competitive restaurant market, both could compete. Looking forward to our return in November and many other excellent meals.

The Beet Ravioli with ricotta and spinach is my all-time favorite, but wow, the desserts we enjoyed were spectacular! We ordered Envy and Lust, and they were culinary works of visual art, gastronomic flavors and textures, and utterly enjoyable! Honestly, I could eat dessert here every night, if my hips would grant permission!
the wonderful couple responsible for La Gula in playa madeira have now given a second, even more exciting option. just opened across the marina bridge up the hill from Lety's is casa bahia.

La Gula is located just off Playa Madera beach in a residential area, on the second floor of the building. The tile work on the stairs was really attractive and the dining room had a view of the street and residences which was very interesting. The food was very well done, they are "slow food proponents" and it is obvious...

Real food made the traditional way everything was super fresh, tasty and delicate. We were surprise by the high creativity and quality of the food. After 2 weeks in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo we can definitely say that we had here out best meal. Although it has no bay view the place is very charming. Recommended 100%
The dining setting is lovely, even with no view. Our waiter had trouble understanding my (not too bad) attempts at Spanish and our English, which is fine in an inexpensive restaurant. At these prices, you want to be understood. My husband had the shrimp medallion, which was so salty he sent it back as inedible. The owner told us that...

If La Gula were in Portland, Oregon (our home), there would be lines out the door every night. The food is simply that good. And, as good as the food is, the presentation and the service are every bit as wonderful.
The Gigot de Gallina is a perfect metaphor for La Gula. Deboned sauteed chicken legs, stuffed with vegetables sauteed...

This restaurant is upstairs so you only discover how great it is as you walk inside. Kitchen and chefs are in view.
Superb menu using lots of local ingredients. It was the "slow cooking" on their sign that caught my eye.
Some menu items are pricier - but the soups and - the oh so creative - appetizers are reasonable....

My wife and I had dinner at La Gula on a very quiet Monday evening in late March; there were only two other tables at the restaurant that night. The ambiance (a rooftop overlooking an alley, gazing out onto telephone wires and water tanks -- but, hey, it's Zihua!) and the service both were great. The food was great /...

Don't waste money by taking your kids/teenagers to this wonderful restaurant even if they are "foodies". It's beautifully presented and very delicious.
