Was taken here begrudgingly by a colleague who wanted me to try one of Guadalajara's specialities and I must say I was pleasantly surprised and also very full by the time I left. The bread was just right so it didnt go soggy with the sauce and the pork was nice and tender, wouldn't eat here every day as I... More

Guadalajara is best known for several things, among the most popular ones as: Tequila, Beautiful ladies and of course, the "Torta Ahogada"; this place has one of the bests in town, with fresh salty bread, pork meat, tomato sauce and HOT CHILI!, you won't regret it.

The classic torta ahogada is a Guadalajara classic. This is a busy restaurant for eating in or for take out.

This is a traditional sandwich shop in guadalajara. Tortas ahogada (drowned sandwiches) is a "hole in the wall dive" as all the best places are. French roll filled with meats of your choice and then embellished with onions, beans, etc depending on your taste and sense of adventure. Then you choose the sauce for drowning. Either a "mild" (yea, right)... More

I was always reluctant to try a sandwich dipped into a weird sauce, but the way the show you how it is done and how you should enjoy a "Torta Ahogada" at Tortas Toño is unique, and better now that they have locations all over town!!

If you have never been to Tortas Toño, it truly embodies what Jalisco's cooking is all about. Great experience and overall the best torta I have ever had. Will come back often.
