The building is a Merida treasure, former home of American Alma Reed, mistress to one of Mexico's former Presidents and called "La Peregrina," the Pilgrim. Both inside a/c dining room and outdoor courtyard for lovely ambiance, always good attentive service (I live in Progreso 32 km away) and an eggplant parmigian to die for! We return every few months and...

Nice setting. Ok service. Ceviche was great. Shrimp Coctail also great. Arrachera the best. Shrimp dish not so great. Would definitely return.
Great food, service and wine list. I would recommend any of their pastas and the chicken liver kebabs are delicious! The courtyard is very picturesque. Try to avoid sitting close to the washrooms, the second courtyard in the back is preferable. Portico is my favourite restaurant in Merida!
This was one of the best dining experiences we had in Merida. The food was excellent (don't miss the mole). The service was attentive but not overbearing and the outside courtyard dining area was relaxed and romantic.
This is absolutely not the worst restaurant in Merida. There are others that are worse. The problem if no one has figured it out already is that their more popular venue next door POP cafeteria is really, very good and the ownership excels at that type of cuisine. Portico is their
highfalutin restaurant, and they don't know how to service...

The chicken mole enchiladas were amazing. Really one of the best meals we had in Merida. The courtyard is lovely and quiet. A great place to spend an afternoon.
We return to this restaurant every time we visit Merida. As we entered, not having been for over a year, the waiter remembered us saying with a great big smile '¡Los escoceses!' When one thinks of how many people must have gone through that restaurant in a year, we were astounded. They were very pleased to see us.

This place is a treasure. You have several choices on where to dine. Outside in the back garden is a perfect nighttime choice. The soups are great. Their main dish choices will please most everyone. Meal ws cooked to perfection. From before dinner margaritas to after dinner dessert, this place was top notch!
This restaurant is centrally located, with a charming atmosphere and somewhat decent food. The service is terrible. I thought when I first visited in November 2012 that perhaps the waiter was having a bad night. His bad night obviously extends through 2013. I had the steak the first time, which came covered in a thick gravy, along with an expensive...
