Amazing spot to dine in Halifax. Very romantic with live mellow music in the background. Some of the walls have the original bricks and stones, giving it a tavern-like feel. Although service was a bit slow, the food was fantastic with some of the best oysters I have ever had

My sister in law took me here for a treat. We both had The Drill (4 course meal chosen by the chef). It was so filling. We took a doggie bag and finished it the next day. Was sooooo worth it. I found it a little too romantic for us...lol There was a table stuck in a hole in the... More

Stopped in for the pre-theatre Prix Fixe package. This was an awesome way to enjoy an excellent menu offering of fine dining at a working woman's price. I have eaten at the Press Gang on the regular menu and I have always left thoroughly pleased. The theatre menu was more value and food than we could have bargained for. We... More

My husband and I were looking for a nice night out. Our favourite restaurant in Halifax that we have been eating at for 17 plus years is under renovation, so we thought we'd try the Press Gang. So disappointed. Let me be clear, it wasn't the food....that was fine, not outstanding, but what I expected. The service however, was extremely... More

There is nothing big to gripe about with this restaurant but it did not live up to expectations in terms of food. The service was friendly and as attentive as we required. The atmosphere was good, though we were seated so far out the back that it was only on departure that we were actually aware that there was live... More

My husband and I travel to Halifax a couple of times a year. The Press Gang feels like home to us it is our favourite restaurant, 5 star service, food and atmosphere. We love to sit at the bar and have a couple of cold beers and enjoy the oysters. Awesome.

We recently ate at this long time Halifax establishment. I have been disappointed in the past but dinner this time was fantastic. It is on the pricier side for Halifax but the meal and service were excellent. The elk chops were beyond good. Perfectly cooked and mouth watering. Others at the tabled enjoyed their meals equally, so two thumbs up... More

Visited this restaurant because of the reviews. I had the cooked oysters which were very good and flavorful. I then had the warm beet salad which was quite bland and not noteworthy I followed with the steamed mussels that were in a cream sauce. They were quite fishy tasting and when mentioned to the server she was more than willing... More

I've been travelling to Halifax for years and it took a freind who loves this restaurant for me to go. The history ( please read the story of the name when you go ) is wonderful - ambiance great - food - we both had the fish special - Sea Bass which was a 10 out of 10 Be sure... More

I hadn't been to the Press Gang in over a year and decided to go back and have dinner with friends. Started with baked oysters which were fantastic and had beef tenderloin for my main. Wile the steak was cooked perfectly I was disappointed with the sauce. It was a cranberry peppercorn sauce that I felt didn't do the wonderfully... More
