My husband and I had dinner at Sage Bistro after reading glowing reports from a Calgary food critic...we had eaten wonderful food throughout our whole weekend stay in Canmore, and this meal was literally like icing on the cake...OMG...the food was so good, I feel like I may have had a moment on the first bite :-) What a wonderful... Four os us were on our way back home from a day in banff and decided to stop in at Sage in Canmore, as my wife had dined there previously and thought it was a good spot. One had the Cobb Salad and particular enjoyed the generous chunks of crispy bacon. My Mother-in-law ordered a half pound of mussels. She... More

Sage as a restaurant is beautiful. Old log house feel, but very nicely done. This restaurant has a lot of pluses. The appetizers upstairs were fantastic. Loved the Charcuterie and Mussels. Cheese selection was fantastic. I went with a group so we sampled almost all of the appetizers. Sage was on there A-Game. Then came the main course and total... More

Put it this way, do not go upstairs to the wine bar if you are hungry. We visited the Sage Bistro for dinner and went upstairs. The portions are minuscule and very expensive. We probably should have eaten downstairs where we could have had a full meal. We ordered the mussels and 2 or 3 of them were cracked or... More

I love heading upstairs at Sage and trying little bits of everything. Tasty titbits, little tapas-sized portions. A flight of wines, small samples of wonderful wines from all over the world. Be adventurous, try different things. Frankly, downstairs is a bit boring for me. Nice food, well cooked, but it's what you expect. Head upstairs, and choose the unexpected. Great... More

We stopped by for lunch mid-week in the shoulder season and the place was empty. I'd called ahead to ask if they had a high chair and the waiter said they did and he had it setup for us when we got there which was nice. The waiter was attentive and friendly, even though the place was dead. The food... More

Lamb shanks were very small portions and tough or cooked and reheated. Pork tenderloin was over cooked and again, tough. The small potatoes appeared to be reheated and tasteless. The service was good and when we complained, one dinner was not charged for and complimentary deserts, which were good, were brought to table. We would have preferred to have the... More

Thanks for your review. I can only respond to this review with the following two points too make you aware of a few facts. Lamb shank is a cut of the animal that must be braised for a very long time to produce a tender outcome. We braise our lamb for a minimum of 5 hours. So yes, it is... More

My girlfriends and I spent a weekend in Canmore receiently for our birthdays. We asked around, researched and were told that SAGE was one of the top 3 restaurants in Canmore. We spent the Saturday at the spa and everyone we told that we were going to SAGE said "ohhhh good choice!!" After the spa we got all dressed up... More

Had Sunday brunch at Sage Bistro and it was very good. 2 of us had the eggs benedict and a side of banana bread french toast and the other 2 had the Three Sisters breakfast. Everything was delicious, there was a ton of food, and it was fast and fairly well priced. We will be back for sure.
