With absolutely delicious food - and lots of it. We were lucky to be able to squeeze into the restaurant before all of their reservations which would have filled the restaurant in an hour or so. The food was wonderful, a great deal of it, with delicious, home made bread, salad and two helpings of vegeterianable (yes, that's what it... More

We had the mushroom caps, bacon scallops and veal. So good. Great service and always so much fun. Looking forward to our next visit.

We showed up on Mother's Day at 11:50 with no reservation. We were lucky to get a seat. This is such a cute and quaint little house right on the main drag. We really enjoyed the friendly, family feeling. Food was exellent. Big portions. Homemade and great value.

Four of us ate here for a business dinner and all enjoyed our meals. There were some nice local beer choices and nice wines as well. I really enjoyed the seafood chowder, and the scallops and prawns in my main course were very fresh, and the vegetables were more than your typical steamed classics. My collegue reported tha the pecan... More

Since we often arrive late in the day, Matterson is the logical choice for first meal in Ucluelet. The quality is always good. Chicken or beef, it all goes down very well. It is classic 'at home' meals. You know, the meals mother thought she used to make or may be made. This place is a local treasure, locally owned... More

If you are looking for a big ole breakfast like the one grandma used to cook, this is your place. Ambience is very nice, cute country cottage. We had breakfast , ordered an omelet and yogurt parfait. The omelet was good, big, lots of hash browns that seemed to have been cooked in lard. Bread was not of the flavourful,... More

We found this little restaurant quite by accident when looking for a place to each lunch in Ucluelet. Everything about it was excellent from the very friendly and attentive server to the really good food. The seafood chowder was delicious and the spinach salad tasty and fresh. On a very rainy, cold day, it was a welcome retreat and we... More

I think I had the chowder and a Caesar salad. I remember the chowder because it was the best I've had in years! Great food. Service okay. Nice little spot for dinner with the kids.

For a real good honestly and truly home cooked meal you can't miss the Matterson House. Has a lot of history too.

I was just over in Ucluelet for my spring whale watching trip. Of course the first night there I had dinner at the Matterson House. And an execent meal as always, I had the prawns. My last night in Ucluelet I had the Matterson Chicken, for reasons I will not go into here I could not finish it all and... More
