The best pub in Cambridge and probably in England. Excellent selection of ales, cidres, etc. amazing late-late English breakfast (and the tiramisu is a dream). The staff is super friendly and they treat you almost like family. amazing!

I have been visiting the maypole a couple of times a week for the last month now and found the service from the owner and the welcome I have received to be top drawer so much so that I have looked forward to my next visit all throughout each week however today I visited around 5pm and was astonished that...

This bustling family owned and run pub is a well kept cosy watering hole with an excellent variety of beers. Welcoming staff take time to willingly answer your questions about the nature of beers on offer; such as which are local ales or from microbreweries etc… Only drank here so can't rate the home made Italian food.
It's a nice enough pub, the food isn't special but it is good. They have nice cocktails. It gets very busy.
The Maypole is our most frequented work "pub lunch" venue. Big enough to fit a large group in (with often not the best of notice), a great range of beer to suit all tastes (especially the cask ale lovers), and great "home style" Italian/British pub food. (Bring a good appetite with you! Many dishes come in LARGE serves.)
I picked the Maypole from the Beer in the Evening website, and was not disappointed. A multiplicity (8 or so) real ales available. The pub itself is hidden away, and the building unimpressive both outwardly and inside, but the food was heavenly (risotto), the service faultless, and the beer perfectly kept. No 1 spot for me in Cambridge.
I would give it it more than 5 stars if I could. The Maypole is my favourite pub in Cambridge, well anywhere really.
FIrst, the food is consistently excellent. The polpette rusticana (meatballs with penne pasta in a lovely spicy tomato sauce), melanzane parmigiana, risotto, fish and chips, or any of the specials are always delicious,
They have some of...

The food is great and the Ale and beer selections is amazing and constantly changing, which is great for people like me who...

We've been going to the Maypole for quite a few years fairly regularly and I always rated it. We would take friends with their children to eat there and they always seems quite child friendly.
Our last visit was quite unpleasant though. Our 4 year old daughter ran from one room to the other and the owners son told us...
