Though we had been recommended Pomegranate, we hadn't decided to go there for lunch, and randomly ended up in there when running from the rain. A lovely woman, assuming the owner, greeted us straight away, brought over menus and wine lists and guided us towards the specials board. Took her advice for a DELICIOUS Italian red wine, so smooth. I... More

I have previously written an encouraging review of this Old Town restaurant - but things have changed. The food is still a little different and very tasty, but the refurbishment and an apparent lack of staff made our return ultimately rather disappointing. Has the restaurant been tempted to pack too many tables in, and as the same time losing a... More

Had an early Saturday evening meal at Pomegranate after wandering around The Old Town. Service was excellent and our meal delicious. Lots of local seafood on the menu along with locally sourced produce. We chose 5 hour slow cooked, crispy pork belly which was absolutely superb. I would definitely return when we visit Hastings again.

A vey disappointing evening, particularly as the friend I was with had recommended this restaurant. It was freezing cold when we arrived - we had to ask them to shut the open door and put the heating on. Too dark to really see the food. We ordered the House white wine only to be told they had run out. Four... More

What a little find, when you sit, you could well imagine being anywhere in provincial France, or in Honfleur, St.Malo, Bologne, Calais, stripped wooden floors, minimal wall decoration, soft grey decoration, two large white chandeliers, dimmed at dusk. Candles on tables, charming front of house lady, wines by the glass and bottle. I haven't even started on the quality of... More

This is the place to go if you don't want to hold a conversation.....music was far too loud...and our pleas were met with helplessness. Felt really bad as it was a birthday supper...agree with other reviewers about the food.

We arrived in Hastings not knowing where we'd dine, but walked along the High Street and found this restaurant that looked a cut above. We didn't start well: arrived late when it was already full so could only get a table by the door; next door to us was a large party table; and there some technical problems with the... More

A good small restaurant, where they put effort into local sourcing and creating flavoursome food. Essentially Modern British, with quite a lot of fish and some meat. Only one vegetarian starter and main the evening I went though. A little cramped, and understaffed too ... and they operate two sittings at the weekend (for dinner at least) ... 7pm and... More

Recently visited this restaurant at the Easter bank holiday weekend. Lovely, small, candle-lit restaurant. Very warm welcome. Had one of the nicest red wines I've ever had, delicious home-made bread before our mains. Menu is fairly simple, home-cooked fare but done very very well. I had saddle of lamb, cooked perfectly, courgette and dauphinoise with a red wine jus -... More

And that's it really. Absolutely packed - first night of season maybe but offered poor table by door - swapped it for cramped table at rear of restaurant. Ended cancelling last course as wait was too long. Enjoyed what we had - mussels, fish soup and another fish dish. But just average.
