Arrived here to cheer on a group of coast2coast cyclists we were sponsoring. The weather was bleak; sideways rain, wind, low cloud and freezing so we couldn't comment on the view as it was invisible, but the cafe was such a welcome! Wood burning stove lit in a large room. Food was just what we and the cyclists needed; bacon... More

I don't really think the reviews on here do this place justice. I cycled up here last Sunday as part of a coast to coast weekend thinking I was going to be faced with a grotty cafe to have a quick cup of tea to get warm in before I headed off . However when faced with some fantastic looking... More

Fantastic views, the food however is average and overpriced and the place itself could do with an overhaul inside.

Views are great. Good for a quick cup of tea, the food was fairly standard cafe food. Sitting out even in the cold was great thanks to the truly awesome views. Good opportunity to walk along the fells south over Fiends Fell towards Cross Fell. We did a short loop out and back for 30 minutes which was enough for... More

Visited here on a random drive out across the Pennines. We ordered food but it wasn't really very nice for the price. It could have been better. I couldn't fault the friendliness of the staff who were very welcoming. The views are spectacular and they have lots of glass windows so the view can be appreciated from inside the building.... More

I first came here in August 2008 when I was cycling coast to coast from Whitehaven to Newcastle. I went again by car this time in February 2013 - not knackering this time but still great views!! I had chocolate cake both times - v v v good! The cafe offers great views of the surroundings and the staff are... More

The obvious is the view - simply stunning and an event in itself navigating the many fantastic bends by motorbike to reach it. Have enjoyed great meals here, always a joy.

Cafe was packed when I went with my children so had to have a take away. The food was lovely, good quality and you get massive portions. It's a plain simple bikers caff and does the job brilliantly. The view from the car park is wonderful and on a nice day the view and the cafe's food make a perfect... More

I have known the Hartside Cafe for many years. Never tire of going there. Kath Renwick and her staff run a great service in all weathers. It is worth the trip for the views alone. There are walks all around which are splendid with vistas to the west and east. The food is home-made, ample and cheap though the tea... More
