Our first visit to this stunning building. What a beautiful treasure for the city. Excellent selection of beers, wines, spirits & soft drinks too. Service at the bar was very speedy & friendly despite it being so busy. We managed to get a table in the dining rooms upstairs. Our waitress was very friendly & efficient. Good menu choices and... This is the number 1 pub in Liverpool. Very nice interior, good and quick service at the bar and a wide selection of beers on tap.

The interior of the Phil Pub is absolutely stunning! As you enter there is a large bar, one large room and 2 smaller suites, all in Art Deco design and full of period features (and mismatching old chairs). It gets very busy so you're not always guaranteed a seat despite its generous size. It is still worth a visit when... More

Decent ales, love the huge, open back room which can be rearranged out of sight of the bar, food was decent and arrives quickly.

visited this restaurant on a Friday night after a recommendation and due to the fact that a number of other places we tried were fully booked. The food was really good with a good selection and service was quick and attentive. The building is quite old and historic as is the decoration but it is inkeeping with the building. all... More

You can sit in this pub for hours admiring the decoration. (Take a trip to the Gents and check the tiling. Amazing........can you find the bee?)

On two day trip to Liverpool we shortlisted this place as somewhere to eat even before arrival to the city, having found it on the web. We were inspired by the look of the place and its menu. On arrival, visually - the place didn't disappoint. The pub downstairs was "oldy worldy" in an over the top, ostentatious way which... More

Four of us dined here on Mothers Day 2013. Restaurant looks very traditional and straight from the history books of 1901, when, I believe, that it opened. We ordered from the menu rather than the set traditional Sunday roasts. I have to say my steak was cooked perfectly and is amongst one of the best steaks I've ever had when... More

This is a beautiful pub which totally lives up to its architectural reputation but it was totally let down by the worst meal I have ever been served. The roast beef dinner was totally inedible and had to be sent back - something I have never done before. The beef was too tough to cut let alone chew. The Yorkshire... More

We were in Liverpool celebrating a friends birthday and we arranged to meet at the Phil for a drink. I was put off suggesting eating there by reviews I had read. However, we didn't have much time to eat before hitting the town, so opted to eat there. The service was very good, we didn't have to wait long, the... More
