If you are one of the two thousand on a deal for Champagne Tea then prepare to be disappointed, for what you will receive is not worth the voucher price let alone the claimed 50pound value After a disagreement over undrinkable wine, we were asked to leave by the manager who has zero customer skills, no diplomacy, and likes to... This customer was asked to leave by the manager because he recieved complaints from other customer over their behaviour which was disturbing their enjoyment of a perfectly good tea. Customer had a voucher for a champagne tea, but requested wine instead. Was accommodated and given two glasses of perfectly good dry white wine. Customer then complained and asked for champagne... I came down to Newcastle to visit some friends & they suggested the Fishermans Lodge for something to eat.... not knowing what it was like, as never been before, we paid a visit. Granted it was after the resteraunt closed, but it was a lovely evening so a walk in the Dean too, upon arrival i was told to remove... More

I find this a little unfair if not wholly unreasonable. For a start you refer to me the owner when in fact you were dealing with a former manager. You are libellous about me. Moreover the restaurant is closed on Mondays & Tuesdays which is clearly advertised on our website. Generally customers call the restaurant beforehand in any case -... More

My mother booked afternoon lunch as a treat and what a treat it was.Very relaxing time superb sandwiches, scones to die for and the service was second to none. The waitress named lyn was very professional having worked all over the country, and is an asset to the Fishermans.

My daughter booked afternnon tea for three people using an on-line offer of two for one. She paid £15 at the time of booking with £15 to pay on the day for the third person. The service was awful,we had to ask for knives, side plates and serviettes. The food served was as poor in quality as it was in quantity. The... More

This customer had some reasonable cause for complaint but not as far as these comments. For a start I was present. I am the owner of the restaurant not the manager. It was the first day of a living social offer and the staff were not entirely prepared for the onslaught. The mistake was made because the staff had prepared... More

My mother and I went to the lodge for the afternoon tea, our experience inlcuded but was not limited to; - Drab, drab interior - Witnessing the waitress spill wine over another guest and fail to even fill a champagne glass - A distinct absence of spoons - Laughably bad cucumber sandwiches (I mean really, even I can make a... This person has filed twice ("disgraceful establishment, etc") A rebuttal has been posted for that review, but suffice it to say that the customer was asked to leave because other customers complained about her behaviour and the disturbance she was causing to their own enjoyment of a perfectly good tea. One other customer complained that they overhead everything and she... More

I am not sure what this customer is expecting as we have just reduced our pricing. We have a very good chef - however because of the economy we have reduced prices. Our pricing is in line with all the main restaurants in the area, and significantly lower than a nearby well-known hotel. This comment is just simply not true... More

The only thing that saved us from having a complete disaster of an evening was the high humour of the lovely people we had the pleasure of meeting on the evening. Food average and on the whole poor value for money

Firstly, thanks to all of the lovely people who, like us, booked into this restaurant on Sat 28th of April. We collectively got through the farce of an evening with great humour. To summarise;- First impressions; the restaurant and bar lounge were nicely decorated, however use of tables in the dining area was very poorly thought out. People were squashed... More

We do accept that with a full restaurant, with new staff and a new manager that particular night was no what it should have been. However, to publicise and vent not altogether accurate statements is neither helpful to the restaurant and shows this complainer for what she is. The manager did not refuse a customer the opportunity to remove the... More

It's been almost 13 years since my wife and I have visited this restaurant in the leafy dene in Jesmond. It was always known to be very good but expensive. With a change of management we decided to give it another go and were not disappointed. The scallops for a starter were perfect. Steak tender and just right. We did... More
