I've been to Pani's a few times on nights organised by others. The service is very friendly and the atmosphere very pleasant but I find the dark basement a little dingy on a sunny day. The menu is typical of a standard Italian restaurant in Britain, in that it contains all the usual suspects smothered in far too much tomato... More

Prices were very good but the food was average. Service was also good and the place itself is lovely especially on a sunny day. However I was slightly put off by a long black curly hair in my food, although likely to be accidental it was still pretty off putting.

I've ended up at Pani's several times now and interestingly enough it's never been by choice - it's always happened as a result of a change of plans. This fact does not do this friendly restaurant justice, however, as it deservedly ranks among the better budget eateries Newcastle has to offer. The food is good here. It may not be... More

Cheap, Very Cheerful and Authentic. Called in for a pre theatre lunch, the food was served with a smile and very tasty. The staff were very pleasant and remained calm as it was torrential rain outside and everyone was arriving very wet, wet coats and brollies and it seemed as if half of Newcastle were pouring in for a bite... to be fair it was very busy. however had to wait at least 15/20 mins to order food and drinks. the food arrived quite quickly. the pasta dish i had was edible, but the ravioli was clearly bought in & the sauce was basically just butter. it is cheap, but in hindsight would prefer to have paid & gone somewhere... Been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. Food is consistently good and the daily specials keep things interesting. Staff is friendly and efficient - even when the place is rammed you seldom have to wait for a refill or another beer. On a technical note - the flag of Sardinia in the windows are an... More

A large party of friend's converged here for a 21st birthday party and although there was about 20 of us the service wasn't compromised by the size of our party. Due to the size of our party we were given a limited selection of the menu and asked to pre-order which I felt was fair enough considering that this was... More

When dining alone, having the care and attention of the staff makes a big difference.fast and efficient and delicious. I had a simple fish stew. Perfectly seasoned and unpretentious .a cafe with confidence.

The menu in Panis seemed very inviting, but unfortunately the quality of the food did not live up to the promise. House wine was OK and cheap enough, but if this is typical of the food offer, there is better to be had in Newcastle for the price.
