I had the fish cake. It was the daily 2-course menu that came with a beetroot salad that I substituted for a regular salad and a soup. The fish cake came wit a nice ginger and cranberry jam that went really well with the fish cake. I chose the leeks and brocoli soup which was also good. £9.95 My friend... More

Worked with Chris from Amber to secure a group booking for 14 people. This was our badminton club end of season dinner. Chris was very flexible to accommodate the booking. Both Al la Carte and Group menu was made available upon my request. This restaurant normally asks for a deposit for group bookings but forwent that given the contact details... More

Amber is the restaurant/bar attached to the Scotch Whisky Experience. Personally, I'd skip the "Experience" (although the shop is good) and go right to the bar and restaurant. The food is good, very good in fact, but this is NOT a place to go if you don't like whisky. What sets this place apart is its large selection of whiskies... More

We had lunch here after doing the whiskey experience. The kids had soup and a kids platter. The soup was lovely and the kids platter was OK. The adults had a cheese platter and a seafood platter. They were both really yummy but there was not enough bread, so we asked for more bread to finish the cheese as you... More

Went here with friends from work, it was a great night, I can not fault the service or food, I had the haggis starter and trout main course. I wanted pudding but was full. It was a great night out and the whole whiskey experience really adds to the night even if you are not that into whiskey! Will definitely... More

Similarly to one of the previous reviewers we were under the impression that The Amber was "fine dining" and had dressed accordingly, but to our disappointment it reminded me of the cafeteria that Woolworths used to have with most of the diners dressed to suit. I had received a present of Gift Vouchers and the plan was to use them... More

Many thanks for leaving a review – although we are disappointed to hear of your dining experience we are grateful to have feedback on which to act to resolve any issues. We are aware that when searching in Google for “Fine Dining Restaurants in Edinburgh” that our restaurant is listed whilst we actually offer a more relaxed experience. Although manipulating... More

This is hidden away in the Scotch Whisky Experience. The ambience is not that interesting, but the service was friendly and efficient. The menu options were nice, and generous. We were particularly happy with the mature and interesting options on the kids menu! One loved the smoked haddock and mash, and the other had both a cheese sandwich and the... More

Many thanks for your review. We are really pleased that everyone in your family enjoyed our menu. Everyone should be able to enjoy great Scottish produce so we are delighted that we got it right for the adults and children. We have just refurbished the restaurant and we are awaiting some interior dressing which will be with us this week... More

I was expecting a fine dining experience as when you do a google search the first thing it's says is Amber, fine dining in Edinburgh. I am sure the food is very good but I did not stay as I was expecting fine dining atmosphere. It is set out like a cafe or coffee shop. It is not a fine... More

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Whilst I cannot do much to change a google search our website does have accurate photography, menus and descriptions - we will be taking more photos of the whole restaurant area at the end of April so that will provide an even better idea for guests of what to expect. I recently dined in the Amber Restaurant along with fellow members of the 49 Club - it was certainly a memorable experience. commenced with a tasing of three malts, guided by Rachael Barrie, master blender for Morrison Bowmore - had a tour of the Worlds largest whiskey collection, some 3400 bottles, now owned by the Diago Company. Lunch was superb,... More

The food here is very good, the portions are generous, the staff are friendly and efficient and they don't cram the tables too closely together to fit in more punters. Prices are very resonable and the steak was excellent. They also have 100+ single malt whiskies behind the bar.
