I have been in the cowdray regularly and enjoyed coming to the fantastic customer service but I'm afraid to say this is no longer the case. It seems the manager has hired new staff who seem to care more about their fashion and phones than they do customers. Customer service is definitely needed with these new staff and still unsure... Visited this establishment for a drink and meal with a friend. Was not impressed with the managers attitude. She never spoke or smiled. A other people came in and noticed the same attitude. She was more chatty and smiling when serving a couple young men in suits. The food was lovely and well presented. The waitress was very helpfull and... More

I have been to the cowdray arms many times before on this occasion both the food and surroundings have us a very nice night out. The food is well cooked and there is a nice selection. The pub is a bit out of the way that I guess that adds to its charm but you do need transport to get... More

We popped in this pub again, having had a bad experience years ago. Well on the outside it appears the same quite dull, once inside its set up more like a resturant than a pub that does meals. A you can place your orders at the bar but a waitress comes over and will also take your order. There was... More

Stopped off for a quick snack before going on to Gatwick. Food was very tasty and fresh for a busy Sunday lunch, for instance the salmon roulard was very tasty and fries were crispy and well seasoned. Drinks are very pricey small non alcoholic beer and lemondade £6.95 wow! On the way out it looked like everyone was clearing there... More

Friendly, efficient, and attentive staff even at a busy time. Food good; reasonable selection; fair prices although the portions could be a tad larger. An enjoyable experience and one that we hope to repeat in the near future.

Tried this on our way home from Wakehurst. Welcomed by a charming host - ordered drinks (excellent Greene King ale) which were brought to our table. Menu small but intriguing - definitely NOT a pub chain! I had the delicious gammon (freshly cooked and thickly sliced) with a duck egg (very good!) and my wife had the fish special -... More

We were on our way to East Grinsted and stopped off here for lunch, not knowing the place at all. However, we were very impressed. The lunch portions were adequate, but not huge, in fact just about right for lunch. My wife had a seafood tortellini and I have crab risotto which also had a crab croquete and crab with... More

Had an excellent meal - mouthwatering delicious catch of the day, which was juicy cod surrounded by mussels in a lovely creamy sauce. My partner, not being as adventurous as myself, had the burger and chips, which came loaded with fried onions and fluffy chunky chips. Def will go back.

This has to be one of the best independent restaurants that I've eaten at recently. The food was yummy (we had wild boar sausages and mash) hot and tasty. The waitresses were attentative and polite. I am looking forward to going back.
