This is my favorite restaurant in Heidelberg. Once of the few places I can genuinely say has excellent food without having to add "for Germany" to the end.
we used to go there regularly 20 years ago, and it is still good. the restaurant has tradition, the food is excellent, especially the Loup de mer in salt. the wine even by the glass are more than accpetable.
We hadn't booked but decided to go to Akademie on the strength of the Trip Advisor reviews we had read (and also because it was very near our hotel). Enjoyed a nice dinner, including good wine and excellent service. Sitting outside, after a wasp committed suicide in our wine bottle, we instantly got a new bottle, for free.
The food was good also. But sometimes it is just hard to find a good glass of wine to have with your dinner! We had a great time. The staff was professional and the service was great! We will be back!

My husband and I ate here on our honeymoon and had the most wonderful experience! The food was out of this world as well as the wine to accompany it!! Everything from our starters to our desserts was top notch. The service was also very attentive. I would highly recommend eating here while you are in Heidelberg if you are... More

I had the pleasure to dine here a couple times in the last 6 months. Excellent, traditional Italian cuisine. Good selection of daily specials and the menu contains all the usual suspects. Good service and all the produce is grade A. However you pay dearly for it and I personally cannot escape a tiny rustic feeling (but we are talking... More
