We arrived late in Orta San Giulio thanks to bad traffic on the north shore of Maggiore, and we took Trip Advisor's recommendation on the Olina. Although we could not make a booking, the staff welcomed us at once and seated our family of four on the ground floor. From start to finish, our meal was novel, exciting and satisfying.... More

We were wary about eating here after reading the menu, however decided to go (1) because of the reviews on Trip Advisor & in our guide book, (2) we usually enjoy modern twists on traditional fare. However, we were sadly disappointed by the experience. We found their modern interpretations of traditional Italian food really didn’t work – numerous of the... More

This restaurant is outstanding. Every dish we had was outstanding. The chef created a vegetable plate for my wife upon her asking, even though such option was not listed on the menu. Service was delightful. Locals had a large dinner party in a separate room while we were there, and many other locals were in the restaurant. Highly recommend.

We had an excellent lunch here, with great service. The food was unusual and delicious - I had sliced warm goose breast with lambs leaf lettuce followed by clams and mussels with pilau black rice. My wife had chickpea flour pancakes with Toma cheese fondue followed by battered fish with giant tagliatelle. The dishes were well presented and bursting with... More

We had lunch in this restaurant during the Easter holiday. We started with a complimentary welcome drink (fruits juice), assortment of bread that was neatly placed in a unique yet stylish container, and a complimentary appetizer plate which on that day was raw hams with spicy fruits jelly. All dishes were decorated in a quite sophisticated mode, and were so... More

The restaurant was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We arrived early by Italian standards, but they were welcoming and warm. The decor is fresh and charming. The aperitif (complimentary) that they served should be on every menu - our waitress, Tiziana, created the mixture and we told... More

If not, one of the best. More expensive than average, but this is reflected in the varied and imaginative menu. I was part of a group of 15, mostly poets from the Festival. We were noisy, demanding and arrived at different times, and the restaurant did us proud: provided free cocktails to start, a mini-starter and little cakes at the... More

The restaurant stands apart from the typical local trattorias. At the same time it keeps the full richness and flavor of the Italian cuisine. We went at the end of September and had the oppotyunity to get some white truffles with house made papardelle. The portions are abundant and the ingredients with a very high quality. Short but well selected... More

Nice, fashionable restaurant with large open windows, you are almost seated on the (pedestrianized) main street of Orta. Ambitious cuisine, huge servings: consider to share a starter if you order a main dish afterwards, good wine list with fair mark-ups. Not really the place for a romantic candle-light dinner, yet a fine restaurant.
