Description: Don't save La Cucina del Garga for your last day in Florence or you'll need to extend your stay for the irresistible second visit. Occupying the ground floor of a 14th century palazzo, La Cucina del Garga is a treat for eyes and palate. The proprietors' original paintings bring the dining room to life, while another kind of art is created in La Cucina del Garga's kitchen. The chaotic sounds of chopping and clanging, shouting and singing, all signal an authentic Italian kitchen in the charge of a seasoned maestro. At La Cucina del Garga, chefs Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani have raised to an art the preparation of traditionally inspired Tuscan dishes from the finest local and seasonal ingredients. La Cucina del Garga offers cooking classes including one day in Florence and four-day and eight-day tours of Tuscany.

Lots of free welcome drinks/food. But overall average food. Service is terrible. Slow, moody waitresses. Waited half an hour to place an order. Had 4 pastas and the hyped calamari. All of which were average barring the spicy crab pasta and the veal belly. Would not recommend people to come here. Far better restaurants elsewhere in florence! Nice decour though.... More

We hosted a business dinner for 14 people at this restaurant recently. The staff handled our large group effortlessly, and served each course at exactly the right moment. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a wonderfully eclectic collection of art.The food & the service were beyond our wildest expectations! It is obvious that the chef loves to cook! The menu is... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant on our first night in Florence and it was truly superior. The food was excellent and the wait staff was great with their food and wine pairings. We will come back again without question.

One of the best things is that they offer gluten free options for everything, even the pasta and bread. Try the pistachio and lime zest pasta. Amazing!

Make a reservation so you won't be disappointed. Food, service, wine list all superior. Not so the guests who wear shorts and other street gear. Respect the chef.

We ate here on our last (fourth) night in Florence and it was by far the best. The hotel suggested the restaurant which was just 4 blocks away and made a reservation for us at 8:30. When we arrived the restaurant was busy but not packed. The interior is brightly decorated and the staff is friendly. They pour a complementary... More

We booked in an a hour or two in advance on a Saturday evening and after a small amount of difficulty we found the restaurant in this residential area. The food quality was above average but I wouldn't go as far as saying it is the best you can find in Florence. The staff were all friendly and service good.... More

We were told about this restaurant by our guide at the Tuscan Wine School, and was she right! We were there at the end of April, and just walked in off the street. We were told they were very busy and it would be a long wait, if at all for that night. I said that it was our last... More

Every single plate was better than the one before. This is not a tourist trap – in fact it’s located a short walk away from the center, which gave us a nice glimpse of Florence beyond the attractions. We asked for wine recommendations and were pleased that our very knowledgeable waitress wasn’t trying to push the more expensive options on... More

I really wanted to like this restaurant as much as I did last year, but a couple of things happened that did not enhance the experience. First, our chicken was way to salty. I can stand normal salting for seasoning, but for me it had too much salt. My sister in law felt the same way. It was good, just... More
