Despite being a Brit, I consider my to be a a bit of a connoisseur of Indonesian food having lived in NL some time ago as well as visiting Indonesia a few times. Without question, this is the best Indonesian restaurant outside Indonesia itself I've been to. I went on a Sunday evening and it was packed despite being in... More

The Hague is home to many Indonesian restaurants, take-outs and diners. Also, The Hague has a very critical audience: the people with (family) roots in the former Dutch East Indies and staff and family members of the Indonesian Embassy. To stand out and stay succesful, is quote an accomplishment. Didong was à newcomer in The Hague and à succesful one.... More

Be careful foreigners: very good aubergine and amazing coconut milk chicken but...BURNING! For people not used to Indonesian food this (although excellent) small cozy place in the Hague can reveal itself super super spicy. Try the take away, in case the restaurant is - as usual - fully booked!

This is where you should go if you want to taste the typical Indonesian kitchen. The "rice table" is fantastic, and offers you a broad choice of small dishes. This is more a family place, its crowded and noisy, it didn't bother us but I would not advice you to go here for a romantic evening. If you are staying... More

Not a big restaurant but wow, it does a fabulous rijstafel! A wonderful explosion of flavours - you can understand why some of the islands in Indonesia were once called the Spice Islands.

The atmosphere is very nice, casually sophisticated I'd say, the service is attentive and friendly. However, the mixed plate of food left me somewhat disappointed. One issue is that the food is all piled together on top of a helping of rice, so, you can't really tell what is what. While a few of the options were quite tasty, their... More

Three of us tried to get a table on a surprisingly busy Wednesday night but had to wait an hour for a table, so went for a drink and came back. It was well worth the wait. We chose the largest of the fixed menu choices and couldn't finish it. There was a very varied mixture of tastes and textures... More

Small Indonesian restaurant, slightly off the beaten track, in a residential area on the south-west side of The Hague. Serving (mainly) traditional Indonesian dishes, all fresh, prepared to a very high standard. The 'Rijsttafel Didong' is a true culinary (and visual) feast! Generous portions. Efficient and very friendly service. Limited drinks menu. Informal atmosphere. Can be very busy at times,... More

Me and my partner visited Didong on a recent trip to Den Haag and we certainly weren't disappointed! Neither of us are experts on Indonesian food and this was our first experience of it so I can't comment on how Didong shapes up against other Indonesian places or the authenticity of its cuisine. What I can say though is that... More

If you are looking for mock colonial surroundings and uniformed waiters, go elsewhere. It is not a wonderfully decorated restaurant. However it serves superb Indonesian food, freshly cooked and served by the friendliest waitresses you will find in The Hague. Half the time we eat out, we eat at Didong.
