For me this is without a doubt the best portuguese food, it is set in a rural area amongst vineyards of traditional vinho verde, hard to find but worth every mile if you like eating. This house transformed restaurant managed by Pedro Nunes is a reference for the quality and diversity of its cuisine. Based in portuguese ingredients it is... More

We went to S. Giao after having read about it in different magazines. We were a bit skeptical since the reviews were almost too good to be true. Well, we were not disappointed. AT ALL! It was an amazing experience, the food, the place, the wine and the service. Even the price was a good surprise in the end. If... More

If you are looking for traditional and genuine north of Portugal food go to Sao giao at moreira de Conegos, close to the Moreirense soccer field. Start with some traditional entrees and followed by "tripas"",Rojoes" and other north of the country food.. Confection is the traditional, condiments also the usual. Dessert also very good with many local specials. Highly reccomended.,

This is a class act. I was in a party of five and we all enjoyed everything that was put in front of us. Excellent smoked duck and salmon from their own smoke house, very good foie gras, superb roasted lamb, great desserts. Everything is produced locally and cooked simply and I am shocked that a reviewer found it pretentious,... More

Go to São Gião with clean stomach and spirit, so you can allow yourself to eat with no restrictions! The food is fantastic and gives you a sense of what portuguese cuisine is all about: honest and simple ingredients joined in a very smart way. You should definitely try the entries like 'tutano de boi', 'ovos mexidos' (...) The atmosphere... More

Sao Giao is reputably one of the best places in Portugal. I went there with high expectations, and did pay a high price. The soup (Faisao soup) was bad, the hunt pastry was below average, and the overall experience was bad. I love good food, this looked like food from a pretentious Parisien restaurant that always fails to deliver. Currently... More
