Turned away for lunch as a walk in so booked for the following day. Call and book. Delicious food, mostly foreigners dining. Husband had the smoked salmon and I had the fried pork with onions. Yum! Lovely friendly staff. Did not feel rushed to give up our table. Not cheap but nothing is in Copenhagen.

We found this restaurant while walking away from the touristy side a busy (and sunny) Saturday afternoon. The experience was lovely, and the food totally fantastic. I had the Porto marinated Herring, it was delicious.

Nice and cozy danish restaurant to go for a hearty lunch. I think more dishes should be tried for different kind of food here.

We had a great lunch (Frokost) at Restaurant Amalie, this was probably the best meal during our stay in Copenhagen. The staff was excellent and professional. For every lunch dish they recommended beverages which highlighted the food.

If you want to taste something really Danish for your lunch I truly recommend this place. But before you go there check if you like smørrebrød, dark rye bread with topping. Small cosy restaurant & quality food.

The restaurant was located just around the corner from the Admiral hotel. The food was great and I tried the many variety of herring on offer. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Cosy, famous lunch restaurant close to Amalienborg is worth a visit. The menu offers a variety of classic Danish dishes, herring and salmon, pork tenderloin, roastbeef etc. In November and December you will find a splendid delicious christmas menu containing duck breast and the Danish Classic "Æbleflæsk": Bacon and apples and a lot of other specialities including "ris a l'amande"... Restaurant Amalie is a nice lunch restaurant used by a lot of the bankers located in the old part of Copenhagen (Frederiksstaden). The atmosphere is nice and quiet, the service good and the menu very traditional Danish (lunch) and of good quality. The restaurant is located only 50 meters from Amalienborg (the queens castle in Copenhagen).

Wow the smorrebrod were to so delicious. I had one with fried fish, shrimp and caviar and my husband had the herring curry and both were delicious. Nice beer to go with it, the bread was yummy too. But here is a tip to other newbies to smorrebrod; when they bring the bread basket, its for the open face sandwich... More

We walked by Amalie by chance, having gotten off the "hop-on hop off" bus to see the Royal lodgings. It was so inviting, we decided to have lunch. Great Danish food, with a twist.
