We had a menu with nine courses and I think even today that it was worth every cent. We booked in advance, without we would not have get any table since the place was crowded little bit later in the evening. Expensive but worth a visit.

It was a Thursday evening and the place was packed at 6 pm. Gaijin (weird name for a restaurant, I think. Isn't it a somewhat rasist word for a foreigner in Japanese?) is probably the most popular place in Helsinki at the moment and it shows. They try to squeeze in as many people as they can and serve at... More

Enjoyed a quick dinner for one at Gaijin. Service was average, but amazingly fast at serving the different courses. Had a bizarre Fishmarket cocktail which tasted of strong water. Took the selection of Dim sum (Lamb was especially impressive) and then scallops for main (tiny portions but great taste) with the completely sublime Rhubarb and mint ice cream for desert.... More

Sunday evening dinner turned to be a very unpleasant experience. A very rude waitress misunderstood our order and when we told her that we got a wrong menu, she started to argue and accuse us not letting her know it earlier. She was really unfriendly and completely unprofessional. However the food was good but the experience still left a bad... More

A nice restaurant where you have to book a table a month in advance. The food (menu) cost 66 euros without drinks and even though I would never call it cheap, it did worth it. Food was delicious! every single piece of the menu. Apparently it is "gourmet" restaurant, thus the prices. Tables were very close to each other and... More

I had high hopes and my hopes were largely met, yet I am keen to feel a bit dissapointed. The food itself was good, not exquisite, but good. Herein lies one of the issues. You would expect consistency and flawless execution is this price range. Occasionally, however, main components were not cooked to perfection and the result is dry chicken,... More

Gaijin is one of my favorite restaurants in Helsinki, and I warmly recommend one of the tasting menus (6-7 dishes), which give you the best idea of what the food philosophy in Gaijin is about. Beautiful, fresh flavors, surprising dishes and lovely, attentive service. Make a reservation, as the restaurant is very popular - eat there once and you'll understand... More

Not having booked a table in advance, I sat at the bar. The drink menu arrived first and I got 'highly' recommended to take a drink. I just drank water. Took the small tasting menu and wanted to skip the red meats. No problem. After I placed the order I changed my mind and wanted to even replace the chicken.... More
